I don't see why they can't just be bronies...

They believe that when female Bronies use the name Pegasister over Brony, they are almost using it as a bit of an out (a girl liking a girl's show, albeit one aimed at young girls) which the male Bronies do not have. And they feel that by giving into the "easier" name (don't really know how else to put it) I guess, that they help perpetuate the stigma (older people, of any gender, watching a kid's show) and lend credence to the notion that there is something wrong with the notion of male fans of MLP.

    That's my interpretation anyway.
The way I've always seen it is the reverse actually.  Female Bronies see the name Pegasister as exclusionary, as if the rest of the fandom is saying "Yeah, they like the show, but they aren't REALLY one of us," and they take offense to that.

I think I like your interpretation more, Reaper, not quite as cynical as mine.

It's not really an interpretation.  It's a telling of my experiences reading comments and seeing reactions within the fanbase online.  I'm sure both cases we talked about exist, but I've certainly seen more where the "pegasister in question" was the one upset at the term than them claiming it as a mantle.

Aww, no matter what happens, you guys will get a Video .

To me "Brony" is a unisex term .
The term "Pegasister" is racistic towards Earth Ponies and Unicorns .

Brony is derived fro "Bro" which is derived from "brother"...

Using it to refer to both genders is working for a more equal society.

I never said that, I just pointed out that "Bro" was derived from "Brother", which in most cases is a male.

That makes for an interesting question.  How many of us here are actually girls/women?  Because I sure as heck aren't one straight face

    Don't worry. Be happy.

I kid you so with the word "girls".
In the context I was using:
    girls = friends

Leak? Didn't know there was a leak, I don't think I'll check it out though. I would rather have my patience rewarded for waiting for S4.

Wait, Sat how did you find out about an MLP leak?

so, i tried to watch this. i am thankfull to those of you here who helped me get rainbow dash (thanks for giving me HER name to, and gender...'dude looks like a lady' loops in my head a little now but still, thanks)

i just cant get into this. its a fandom for sure. not a thing wrong with it. the thing is with fandoms like these, if your not part of it you cant fake it. so im not mocking anyone. i just came back because a couple of you wanted to know what i thought of it when i'd asked about my signature missing the rainbow tailed pony.

my thoughts. well, my mind kinda melted. there just wasnt alot going on. maybe, next time i ever get my hands on some pot...which fingers crossed they make it legal here too...maybe then i'll give it another chance. i just wasnt entertained. it wasnt so much a "this is for kids" response, because heaven above knows im not so high and mighty, its saturday morning i dont work and im up at 5am, why....because saturday morning cartoons biatches! im also married and mid 20s, she watches with me! win.

im glad this exists though. good hearted childlike morals and humor and entertainment. not over the top violence and special effects. bronys. keep it up.

So when it didn't suck it got more and more popular and eventually breached the border of their Threads on 4Chan and then lots of drama...oh god the drama...I'm rambling am i ?

Anyway i'm glad you gave this a chance
