How do Points and Reputation work?

Sorry if this is a repeat topic, but could someone explain to me how the points and reputation system works? any insight is appreciated.

Points are sort of pointless ironically. You basically get them for posts outside of off topic, one each day you are on the forum, and a few other things also give you points.

Reputation, you can get a - or a + on each post you make. Reputation ups and downs don't count in off topic. It will add or subtract one reputation from your total amount. Once per thread the owner of the thread can thank a person, this gives them +3 to their reputation total. This is usually given to really helpful posts, or to the person who assisted in a trade. Reputation doesn't technically matter but it does sort of tell people, "I'm liked in the community, or I'm handy."

You also only have 2 "votes" to give per day. They also do not stack. In other words it's 2 votes you can give in any 24 hour period.

You also can only vote on any single post once, so if you come back to a post you voted on the next day you can't up or down it.

The best place to farm reputation is the painted world, it's a super rare drop from the bloated toxic dudes.
