    Everyone knows that dark souls is entirely equipment based firstly.

    This guy is using end game standard equipment to maximise damage output, playing in hypermode which takes a lot of skill and mauling bosses with the result. Using end game equipment and complaining it's as a result is too good is ridiculous.

    i mean come on dibs, you could do pretty much the same with a hypermode lightning/chaos weapon user and get dumb damage. Not like it's exclusive to sorcerer

    My point is that magic isn't balanced, I never said everything else was.

    Dark Souls is completely unbalanced in terms of what you can do with the right equipment. I'm just mentioning that magic was unbalanced because the topic was on magic when I mentioned it.

    There is no game in history where magic is balanced.
    It is either too good or too weak. And if you can give me an example of a game where it is balanced, I will prove to you that there are ways of making it extremely overpowered.

    I can change my opinions easily, but saying that you support balanced magic is an empty statement that CAN NOT be backed up. Ever. Magic can not be balanced in a game whatsoever. There will ALWAYS be a way to make it overpowered, and even underpowered magic can be exploited for unbalanced use.
    I was going to say Skyrim but it's actually underpowered there.A melee smith can outdamage the best spell in one hit.

    I think the IDEA of magic in Dark Souls was done well, but magic itself was not. There's way too many things that can make it completely unbalanced.

    I needn't say more, magic in that is completely unbalanced.
    Especially since there's no mana system in that one, and it was one of the worst of all of them.

    I think you know the phrase "if everything is special, nothing is". It's a very widely used philosophical concept- and actually applicable here.

    Everything in dark souls can be used to its potential, or as you put it it becomes unbalanced.

    Thing is though, everything can be made OP pretty much due to the way dark souls is made. However, because everything is unbalanced, as a result nothing is unbalanced because there's no real differentiation, just differing levels of being unbalanced.

    That isn't an argument against a series with over 20 games.Magic in the ones I have played was useful in that it could be used against an elemental weakness but never better than a melee focused character.
    And for the record,none of the games released after 10 are proper games.

    Believe it or not, I like the unbalance Dark Souls has. Unlike other games where it's unbalanced as in "This weapon is better than this one", Dark Souls is not like that. When I say unbalanced, I mean it as a compliment. Everything is different and can be used differently, and they aren't all tweaked to be evened out so that it doesn't matter what you're using because you're going to be doing the same damage anyway. Even magic buffs are good because unliike Demon's they require stats to be used, so you have to sacrifice levels to use certain ones. I like the unbalance of Dark Souls, and I hope Dark Souls 2 continues it instead of making one weapon just as good as the others. I like weapons to be better because of what they can do as a weapon, not how they are being used to balance itself out.

    When I finished XIII I broke the disc in half then burnt the case. It wasn't worth it to get all of the achievements.

    Then again, yesterday we went on a school trip and I accidently bought it for the PS3. I picked out a game at random and when I got in the bus and looked inside my bag it was too late. Ah well, it's free Trophies since I've already beat it, and I liked the music, so I'll beat it again before I tear apart this one.

    Assassin's Creed 3 was too fast paced, and I don't mean that in a good way. It was literally mission after mission after mission. Hell, they even spawned you beside the next mission. While the open world concept was AMAZING, I experienced it twice, maybe three times total throughout the entire main story.
