    Additional interview (with translation)

Post by DE5PA1R on Wed Apr 17, 2013 10:00 pm

My name is Yui Tanimura, director of Dark Souls II from From Software.

WILL THERE BE MORE EMPHASIS ON THE STORY?

In Dark Souls II we plan to tell the story the same way as in Dark Souls I. From Software geolooft not really in direct communication of a story just like in the movies. We are not going to tell a story. From A to Z We want to immerse players in a world so they can decide how they perceive their own adventure itself. We believe that this loose association with linear stories just part of the Dark Souls games. We will continue to tell our stories in this way.

GAME ELEMENTS BE INTERPRETED THIS TIME MORE?

That is a difficult question to answer. It is important for us that we can not explain everything to the deepest details. What we want is that things can players inventions themselves. There is also a separate communication between players and the community. Where we will make., As with the first use of Dark Souls The interaction between community members and players of the game is an important element for them to share information. At the same time as it is important that previously could not be interpreted. All It is extremely difficult to balance this, but we pay much attention to it. We do not explain everything, but not too little in a way that no one understands anything. So we keep trying to find this way of explanation. The best possible balance.

WHY IS DIE FUN IN THE DARK SOULS?

I feel that there are some aspects that make it fun for players die. One of these aspects is the interaction you have with other players in the same world. It is possible to share with other players. Your experiences and possible times And you yourself also that there are other players who are just as possible. Sharing messages and ideas to overcome obstacles is something that really characterizes Dark Souls. It ensures that players get through it's fun to die in the game. The second aspect is the balance in Dark Souls, it is not obliged to die. It is important for players to realize that their own choices determine the consequences. By being honest the players they want to come back and try again to tackle. Similar situations They really get a sense of victory and fulfillment as something finally succeeded.

DO YOU HOPE THAT OTHER DEVELOPERS WILL ALSO MAKE CHALLENGING GAMES?

Not necessarily. From Software and I go there mainly to make that we want to create. Personally a game There is no preference I have that I want other developers or publishers are going to focus more. I think we remain committed to making games we want to make yourself. Like If players from anywhere in the world enjoy the trip and has Dark Souls, then that's great. I will continue to do my best for the best possible trip and has to deliver off.

WHEN IS DARK SOULS II FROM?

Everyone can look forward to Dark Souls II for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

    "When is Dark Souls from?"

Clearly his answer should have been: "Time flows differently in Lordran." lol

Yes I am very glad about the interview.

Also for the spotty Google Translation, that makes it even better.

Excellent interview. I love how when they question his concerns about other games, he's like, "I don't give a damn about other games, I'm making Dark Souls."

And for those who don't know what the Souls series method of storytelling is, it's called Minimalism, a powerful method, but a lost art, unfortunately.
