For me, just playing it too damn much. I started playing about a year ago (I have it on all 3 systems) and haven't stopped at all really...
Also subconsciously I think I want to get away from the souls series for a while so that i'm fresh and keen for Dark Souls 2.

I have 2007scape. It has got me off Dark Souls. I just find 2007scape more fun after a 3 year break.
Connection is p*ssing me off too, and I think a lack of proper online is preventing any type of value.

When I get burnt out I just stop playing for a few weeks to a month. I've always taken these breaks, I don't think I'm cut out to play a game exclusive, Dark Souls or otherwise non-stop, month after month.
My breaks have served me well and when something new piques my interest, be it a new build I haven't tried, an event, DLC, etc.. I get back in the saddle. Right now I'm back to playing Dark Souls. It's entirely possible that in 2 weeks' time I'll be taking a breather from it.

I prefer to just find a new interest. As in, entirely new. But, that sounds better than doing a years worth of a break, which was what I was considering.

For me, there is so much to do. I can Co-op (have several builds designed for different levels). I can Darkwraith (darkstalkers). Catbro. Darkmoon. Duel (Fight Club). Even Gravelord.

I know I should be encouraging Renegade to stick with Dark Souls but I need to tell you all a secret.You don't have to choose between Dark Souls and Call ofDuty.There are plenty of worthwhile games out there,you just have to try them.

I played it too much between October and December, 2012. Then I started it up again two months later, and all of a sudden, my Dark souls addiction returned.
You have probably played it for too long. Leave it for some time and start it up a couple months later.
You could also try to try spice things up by making a series of challenges for yourself. (Fight Pinwheel with nothing but a broken straight sword. Run through the game as a SL 1 seven times. Fight Ceaseless discharge with nothing but an egghead. ETC).
