SL 1 Shutdown/ Now Four Kings Victory Thread

I was attempting to wrap up my SL 1 run today, which will probably be the last time I play DKS or any video game for good, and I was utterly shutdown by the four kings.

I tried everything except for phantoms (besides Beatrice). I ended up exhausting all humanity and transient curses so I couldn't even bring Beatrice anymore. I tried the Red Tearstone method, I tried Iron Flesh, I tried just regular style, I tried tanking, I tried and tried and tried. I spent five hours today trying to kill the Four Hombres, but I just can't do it at SL1.

With the tanking/Iron flesh method I consistently got them down to one quarter health every time, but was surrounded and annihilated promptly like clockwork.

With the red tearstone I blew through one or two amigos but don't have the consistency to not make a single mistake that long.

My build is a pyromancer, with fully upgraded flame and a lightning +5 hand axe and a +7 fire reinforced club. I am wearing the sorcerer base gear which is all almost completely upgraded.

I am not really looking for any advice because I can't bring myself to try again. It's just too stinking hard.

And now that I have posted this thought and reevaluated it, I think it makes some kind of cosmic sense that after all these hours invested in the game, here after the final test of DKS aptitude, DKS is still better than me.

So all I can say is this: Dark Souls, I concede.

I watched those, but I can't do it. I've mastered every aspect of PVE except the Four Kings.

UPDATE-

I woke up this morning with an insatiable thirst for Four King blood- I wasn't going out this way.

I had forgotten about the pyromancy Power Within, so I went and got that and promptly crushed the Four Bastards on the first try.

Elation.

I did it!

Weakness: Happiness

4 kings find some humanity, summon beatrice and run like a mofo, you can get to the fog gate before she arrives(4 kings won't get health buff). go with midroll to give yourself enough poise for healing, dusk headset to get the most out of the great combustion(i'm presuming you've rofap on so no room for bellowing ring). Lightning reinforced club+5, took me 3 attempts but finally did it. Your 8 great combustions should be enough to take out the first 2 and most of the third king, then just wail in with the reinforced club 2 handed.

I have awful memories of doing a low level run (about sl12 when I faced the 4 kings) and dying repeatedly. In the end I slapped on Havel's set and soloed them with a +5 lightning longsword

I was able to defeat the four kings solo using a shortbow. You keep backing up. Beware, you will eventually reach a wall so swivel and continue moving backwards.

Stay out of their weapons reach and you won't have a problem. Sometimes an extra king would hit me, but I was able to heal and continue backing up.

I suppose it is possible to do the same thing with a crossbow because an upgraded light crossbow can deal more damage than arrows. I'd have to test it, because the reload animation might take too long.

It's about the same speed as a Shortbow I'd say. You don't need to charge up the arrow, but you do need to reload. Composite Bow is faster
