Playstation 4 + Dark Souls 2

The Playstation 4 was announced last night in New York and Sony posted a list of the developers who have access to the console from the start. You can see the list here.

One of the developers who get to work with the PS4 from the start is From Software. Does this mean DS2 could be one of the console's launch titles?

I don't think so, as I said countless times , I would bet that Miyazaki's secret project is something for the PS4, which is one of the reasons he handled the direction of Dark Souls 2 to another director, they saw the game was commercially successful so they wanted to make a 2nd one, but didn't wanted to wait for the next gen, so they assigned new directors to make DkS II and Miyazaki will make a new project for the PS4 (most likely Demon's Souls 2 or somekind of Souls-like game, who knows maybe a revival of King's Field).

I still think Miyazaki is directing Demon's Souls 2 for PS4 and PS Vita.

Demon's Souls 2 would be awesome, but it may be another King's Field game.

I agree with Chiz, it's probably Miyazaki's seperate project.

I think that DkS2 will most likely be on this generation, but since the PS4 is coming this Christmas it is a possibility.
As for Miyazaki's project, Im pretty sure it will have nothing to do with the Soul's series or anything he has previously done. IMO he will be making a brand new title that has similar gameplay to a souls game, like realistic combat and cryptic story line, but it may just be a complete 180 in terms of atmosphere and setting. This is all based off the fact that for the past 10 years, all Miyazaki has been involved in is the Souls series which is dark and depressing, and a change in overall setting is something I think anyone would choose to do after dedicating everything they've got into DeS and DkS. Plus he said in an interview that he wants to make something a bit brighter if he were to make something new. That was said before he announced he was working on anything new.
But who knows, this is just my opinion so he may just be making DeS2, that would be so amazing!..but I have a strong feeling it will be something fresh and new, since the PS4 will be capable of things that have never been able to be done before and Miyazaki, knowing him, is going to do something mind blowing with this new technology.

I am not going to buy a PS4 just for DkS 2. Damnit It better be on this generation! ^_^

Dont worry, Im pretty sure that if it is on the PS4 that it will also be on the PS3.
But who knows?
We'll have to wait and see.

It will have to be on ps4 if it's on ps3 due to the fact that ps4's won't be backwards compatible on launch. and plus they advertised it to be on ps3 and 360 so why go back on the word? but on another note if it becomes a next gen title then it more than likely won't be as crisp on ps3 and 360 if on it at all. The Edge article writers got to see the game running on some hardcore PC and what not and they said that the graphics were not exactly like the CGI trailer but it was DAMN CLOSE... sounds like next gen console talk to me guys. Either way I am saving up for a ps4 just in case. plus it's not a bad idea since other game developers are moving forward as well. but like i mentioned the ps4 not being backwards compatible at launch makes me hesitant to drop my ps3 for next gen thus i have to save $600 -.-

I dont think that backwards compatible has anything to do with it being on both consoles. I guarantee they will continue fo make games on the PS3 for the first year of the PS4s life. But this is different than the PS2 to PS3 switch. They may just turn there backs on the PS3 and focus all there energy on the PS4. I can see it going either way. But there's things that point to it going both ways. On one hand it was announced for the PS3 and 360. But on the other hand the demo supposedly looked close to the cgi in the trailer.

That would be awesome if they made another King's Field game. I remember all the whining about King's Field after it first came about about them throwing an uber mob 50 yards from the starting point!! The noob crusher kracken!! Trolled countless new King's Field players. I actually beat that thing with the starting dagger. It took a VERY long time, about 30 minutes of pounding on it. The biggest danger was one of those giant fish torpedoing you sometime during that time frame, so every time I heard water swishing I thought I was gonna get spear'd in the back by a flying fish. That happened one time after about 15 minutes of pounding on the kracken, I heard swooosh, swooosh, swooosh, then "Screams" dead, owned in the back!! /ragequit

Miyazaki is not working on Demon's Souls 2. From Software does not own the rights to the title so they can't make a new Demon's Souls. (Isn't it funny how the name of the game has a typo in it... unprofessional)
Also Miyazaki said he is working on something that has a more positive, happier feel to it. Obviously Souls games don't that, they're all about suffering.

Also if the PS4 really is coming this christmas, then it's quite obvious DaS II will not be coming on PS3 but on PS4. Since it is only 25% complete, it will take them more than the rest of this year most likely.

*edit* Actually since they said it will be on PS3 and xbox360 I doubt they lied. So yeah it will definitely be on both this gen and next gen.

Frank, FROM doesn't own the rights to DeS, you're right. But your argument is still invalid, because Sony owns those rights, so it's not impossible that Miyazaki could be working on DeS2 for PS4, which in turn would make it an exclusive. Just sayin.

Frank, what typo? They're souls that you get from demons. The "'s" is there to show possession.

Whoa Whoa Whoa guys lol Yes Sony owns Demon's Souls but that doesn't mean From CAN'T work on it lol that just means that if they do it has to be a Playstation exclusive

Frank, Miyazaki didn't said he was workING (actual) in a "happier" project, he only said we would like to, he said that now that he left Dark Souls II to other hands he could focus in other things, and also he said he was working on a project that he denied to comment about. I think.

If Miyazaki was referencing Allant and the many souls he's stolen.....then Demon's Souls would be accurate?!?!?! I'll call him. I'll get back to you guys. I'll ask him about the ps4 thing too.

Well I don't really think that's being a grammar nazi when someone goes and puts a pretty bad typo in the name of a game and then ships hundreds of thousands of copies of it around the world.
