Is the black knight halberd R2 one handed attack bugged or intentional?

It only hits once on the final swing yet the black knights can hit you twice with the same move. It's hard to think this is an over sight now considering the amount of updates DkS has had that it makes me wonder if FromSoft took it out because they found it overpowered. Does anyone know if the halberd hit twice before DkS received any patches?

Same as the Abyss Greatsword, clearly passes through twice, but will only deal damage once, unlike the regular Halberds, which will hit twice.

Pretty bloody annoying actually.

They more likely would if it hit twice.

There's not a ghost chance in hell of it hitting, and it leaves you open to attacks, nobody would use it regardless.

On the topic of general Black Knight weapons, IMO you use the R2's for the style factor. They are, obviously, completely retarded in terms of efficiency. But they look so god damned cool. The uppercut on the BKGS for instance is easily my favorite animation in the game. While theres nothing wrong with using a weapon because its effective, theres also nothing wrong with wanting to look like a boss when you fight.

With regards to the Halberd specifically, its my opinion that the 1 hit instead of 2 is intentional. Its fair to assume the Black Knights are a good deal stronger, physically, than the player character; look at how much larger they are, at the number and variety of swings there are in one of their combos, at the fact they can dodge a good distance in all that bloody armor. IMO the difference in the action of the Halberds R2 is a way to reinforce the idea that they are so much more physically dominant than you; while they can just heft it around effortlessly you have to use that first spin to gather momentum before striking to actually deal damage.

I didn't know Abyss Greatsword R2 only hit once...

It's been my experience that it can deal damage on the first or second hit, but not both

So far I have only used BKH one handed R2 for baiting, but otherwise it's just very clunky to use.
What makes the one handed R2 attack even more odd is that unlike other BK weapon it doesn't actually deal that high dmg (the dmg on other BK weapon R2's is massive if landed).
The 2 handed R2 with BKH deals nice dmg though, so I don't know...maybe the one handed R2 was indeed a f*ck up from FROMSOFT.
