Was this a cheap tactic? (Share your Pvp stories too!)

I was Pvp-ing in the Kiln as a moonbro on a DEX/FAT build. When I invaded a world no one was in site. I thought the host might be doing a boss run so I ran towards Gwyn. I reached the last pillar before the walkway/bridge when the host appeared over the hill. He was followed by a sunbro. I was looking for honorable and figured they were about to gank me so I started running towards them. My intention was to get to the walkway right behind the pillar the black knight guards.

They were quite a distance away from me still, and the sunbro chucked a lightening spear at me. It missed, I ran passed them. I hid behind the pillar, and the waited as the sunbro followed me, the host behind him. When the sunbro got close to the pillar I wrathed of gods him and he fell off the edge. The black knight had aggro-ed him and ran off the edge after him. I rolled from behind the pillar, as host walked onto the walkway. He was full health, we duel, and I won. No WoG.

After the match i got a message from the sunbro saying my tactic was cheap, and i was a homosexual. What do you think? And i encourage you all to tell your stories on here as well, and let the community decide.

It was fine. Whether it was 1 on 1 or 2 on 1, it was fine.

Forcing/WoG off a cliff is a viable tactic, that you see in the forest when someone hides down the ladder towards the hydra. Follow them down, expect a WoG or a Force to knock you off the ledge.

I'm going to have to say that it doesn't sound like a gank squad, as gankers normally are found around the invaders spawn points. It sounds like they were just doing a boss run, and you invaded.

I don't find anything wrong, personally with the fact that you used WoG because that is what invaders do, use cheap tactics to get humanity.

In this case though if you were looking on doing the honorable thing, you probably should have just used the black crystal. They probably weren't there for any honorable duels (unless if they were doing an arena) they were there for a boss run. The reason they both rushed you was because it's in a phantoms duty to protect the host and wipe out invaders.

Again you you did what any other invader would do, play dirty but it seems like you were in the wrong place at the wrong time if you were looking for an honorable duel.

That sun-bro should learn to dodge WoG. So no, it isn't cheap.

Also, as for stories...
1. I was invading in Anor Londo and found 2 gankers. I was a wimp back then so I ran away. Up where you'd go for the Dragon Slayer bow was a vagrant. It one shotted the phantom and distracted the host so I could get a backstab and win. Oh yeah, the vagrant survived too.

2. I re-enacted Fifty Shades of Grey in the Kiln. 'nuff said.

who's to say what's fair or not in this game? say you're roleplaying for ex: you're a spirit of vengeance who's invading someone who's sinned. you think the gods care if you were honorable. they just want you to merk the dude and rip his ear off

Doesn't sound like they were on a run to me. It's the kiln; there's only one spawn point, and the invader sprinted towards Gwyn. He didn't see them, then lo and behold, they're behind him running towards him, going after him. If it was a run to Gwyn, why wouldn't they hold back and summon a 3rd phantom? Why engage an invader on the bridge?

He summoned a sunbro, so the white door would already be there. There wouldn't be any indication of a red invader until he actually started spawning, and somehow both him and his sunbro were off to the side hiding. Sounds like waiting for an invader to me.

You've got a point there. It sounds more like ganking when you word it like that.

In that case good job with killing the gankers.

So, let me get this straight. You were invading someone with a helper phantom. They would have swarmed you. Instead, you used the environment to your advantage to even the odds. They chased you willingly, into a perilous spot, where they could easily be knocked off. And they get mad at you for knocking them off? Bollocks.

I only knocked off his phantom! The Host and i had a 1 on 1, I won.

Yeah, even better. You evened the odds. Nothing wrong with that. He shares the blame for putting himself in that position. It is like turning your back for a couple seconds and getting mad when someone backstabs you.

Nah. It was 2v1. Fair game. You were also an invader. So EVERY GOSH DARN FARKING THING YOU DO IS FAIR GAME BECAUSE YOU ARE INVADING AND NOT GETTING SUMMONED. People need to learn. If you're going to barge into someone's house, you might as well rob him and not say "please" and "thank you" the entire time.


There was one time I invaded in Oolacile township and was greeted by 3 people trying to gank me. I manage to run away and for the next 20 minutes it was:

1.) Fight the white phantoms with the monsters helping me.
2.) Get phantoms to low health
3.) Host heals them
4.) Phantoms kill monsters
5.) Run away to the next group of monsters
6.) Heal myself
7.) Repeat

This went on until the mini boss and I finally killed one phantom with it's help. The host didn't heal him so I assumed he finally ran out of his estus(he had 20). They kill the mini boss so i take the elevator down to the abyss, then camp there with Gough's bow pointed at the entrance. As soon as I saw the elevator come back down I shoot and knock the white phantom off the map then proceed to curbstomp the living f*** out of the host.

Sent him a nasty message afterwards too for giving me so much trouble.

Thats normally my strategy. Kite them from mob to mob and screw them over one by one

Seriously, if an invader decides to face a gank in a tight spot like a walkway etc, he either is utterly stupid, or, which is a lot more likely, packs WoG/Force and will want to knock the gankers off the ledge.

That Sunbro was a fool to fight you there and since you then fought the host 1v1, I think it was as honourable as it can get. Don't let his crying get to you.

You can deal with the host's phantoms pretty much any way you want without it being cheap, you were fair to the host 1v1. I like to either flat out kill them or poison/toxify them so the host will waste estas trying to heal them.

@OP: I do stuff like that with WoG and Force all the time. Just yesterday I killed a trio of gankers that way in the forest. They were ganking in the most literal sense of the term. I spawned and all 3 of them were right there surrounding me. I managed to Force them away from me, then run away, and I led them down the ladder towards the Hydra, and waited on the other side of the wall for them to either get brave or for another hunter to show up. They got brave first, so I Forced one of them off the cliff, then charged into a 2v1, instead of a 3v1. If you're outnumbered nothing is cheap IMO. Except maybe chain BSing.

There is truly something special about the feeling you get when a group of 2 or 3 dudes are trying to gank you, end up chasing you around for 40 min and burning all their flasks, just so they can see the words "YOU DIED" and your character waving goodbye near their dead corpse.
