Not that I've ever heard. Since you know it's coming, it's really the best time to use a ring of sacrifice/rare ring of sacrifice (in case of curse).

He cannot sustain damage until you destroy his Scale, which is in the Crystal Caves, which is not accessible until after he kills you.

nope, but if you done it once already then you can always whack on ring of sacrifice.
Problem is, the secret door out/in doesnt open until he kills you.. or you open the other secret wall/door thing, not sure which.

Nope, don't think so. However you can leave the room he's in during your first encounter. There's gotta be a reason for that, right?

Yeah I just slapped RoS on, unequipped everything, ran up and did "Well What is it?!" to Seath.
