Re: League of Legends
http://www.mobafire.com/ has a lot of guides, http://solomid.net/ has a lot of guides, and http://www.lolking.net/ occasionally has pro player guides. Look up "thoughts on *x champ*" when you are interested in them, it'll usually show you a League forums thread with a few pages on the champion and tips for them. If you watch League streams you'll see people's thoughts on the champ and synergy, and http://www.championselect.net/site/index can give you tips on how to synergize with or play against champions you might have trouble with.

Jax never stood a chance. My new top lane main is working out pretty well I'd say.

Renekton is kinda a hard counter to Jax - Jax's counterstrike becomes useless. The redeeming factor for Jax is that he outscales Renekton.

Kind of hard to outscale someone if they make you 0/6/0 with only 25 farm at the 15 minute mark.

Re: League of Legends
The last fight I had last night I'd forgotten that I'd created all this new stuff to try out a ranged AD carry in the afternoon. So I took part in about a 45 minute battle using Malphite with the runes, masteries, and an item set that I created for Tristana. It was basically all set up for speed, damage, and attack speed. It's crazy how much of a difference just the runes and masteries make only at level 8. I've certainly learned that lesson the hard way. I think my final score was 0/11/4. I was laning with this awful Ashe that kept running away while I was tanking for her too though, but it was mostly my fault.

Re: League of Legends
Okay plastic. firstly damn you for not being on EUW even if we have all the server outages.
secondly if you want a tough get in their face tank I recommend volibear.
A non frontline fighter that still builds a moderate amount of defensiveness is annie. most definitely. ryze is far too easily punished early game to pick up as a new player In my opinion. you want something with a safe lane starting out.
also DONT WASTE IP ON RUNES UNTIL YOU HIT LEVEL 20
seriously. its just not worth it. you will regret it later.

Re: League of Legends
I'm having no trouble with Malphite. I just got out of the most frustrating game I've had since I started. Nobody was communicating, and when the match started they all went mid and wouldn't move. I held top and bot until they broke through mid with Malphite. It was tough, and I had more deaths than everyone else, but I still held them.
I respectfully am not taking that advice. About the runes I mean. Volibear seems cool. What do you really need IP for other than runes and champions? The tier 1 runes are really cheap. I can pay for 2 or 3 with one match. That's totally worth buffing myself for. The setup I have now is taking Malphite from a good tank to an great one. I'm focusing on armor, magic res, and phys/mag penetration and it's really increasing my survivability and making me a lot more powerful. On top of buying runes I'm still earning at least 100 IP per game. I'm about to hit the 1350 mark again actually. This time I'm thinking either Jax, Udyr, or Nasus. I've seen both Jax and Udyr played well and was impressed, and I've been told that I'd play a good Nasus based on how I operate. I'm thinking about checking out Sion too.

Re: League of Legends
Rune pages... RUNE PAGES ARE WORTH THE IP! anyway - you want to save your money to buy a full set of t3 runes once you hit level 20 tbh.

Nasus is godly strong if you can play safe and farm your Q. 2v1's and winning is hilarious. not to mention how hard his slow shuts down adc's

Oh I've been meaning to ask, how do you signal? Like how people will signal to be careful, or that they're on their way, or what have you?

You press Ctrl + Left click and it will ping.
I would recommend Jax for a beginner - he is a strong champion in the top lane and if you plan to continue playing bruisers I would recommend Singed too.
Recent and not so recent Jax scores:

Aren't there different signals though?
Yeah, I looked at Singed and I wasn't entirely sure if it seemed my style. It's pretty awesome that he has a counter to being chased though. I'm sure I'll try him at some point. Jax is way higher on my list than he would be.

Re: League of Legends
I see. Thanks.
Any opinions on Yorick? I can't afford him yet, but he seems like he'd suit me. I think I'm buying Nasus for now though. Out of all my choices I think I'm going to like him the best. Hopefully I pick up his last hit timing fast.

Yorick is a decent Top lane or jungle. He has lots of sustain, tankiness and short range pokes. I always build him wrong and never had a great match with him, but I've seen people wrecking their team with him

Wait, are you all talking about Yorick or Nasus? I bought Nasus last night. Haven't played him yet, but I will today, and I think Yorick's on my list once I start getting bored with experimenting.

Re: League of Legends
Nasus is pretty hard to play early. He'll get wrecked by anyone with really high early damage (Riven) or high poke (Teemo). He has an incredible late game, and you can build him straight tank and still one shot their adc. Just farm your Q. On him, I recommend Boots of Swiftness or Mercury Treads, Triforce or Iceborn Gauntlet, Spirit Visage, Warmog's or Frozen Mallet, Frozen Heart/Randuin's/Sunfire Cape/Guardian Angel, and Runic Bulwark if your team hasn't built one. If you need to be a damage threat, consider Infinity Edge. You'll hit like a train if you've got your Q farmed enough.
Yorick is disgustingly easy and is a hard counter to every champion ever. Build an early Tear, Spirit Visage, and Iceborn Gauntlet, and go wild.
Anyway, I've picked up Varus and he's a stompfest when paired with a super aggressive support like Leona or Alistar. Damage for days, and if he gets an early advantage and a BF sword the lane is over.

Re: League of Legends
I'm yet to see Varus. I'm yet to see probably 90% of the champions though.
What's a good lane for Nasus? Should I just be staying back and farming until he hits a certain level?
