About the Up/Down vote System.

How about a ''REASON'' for Down Voting?
Like you have to give a REASON for Down Voting a person? Example:
*Clicks Down vote*
*Write Reason to Down vote this Person*

There been times when i get Down voted and i have NO idea why. Of course some of my Down Votes are obvious(Useless post etc.etc.)
but i see no Reason why i get down voted on some...

And if some reasons are BAD. then the Vote dosen't count.
Examples:
-RandomGuy114:
''This person offended me.''

-RandomIgnorantGuy4721:
''I think he's wrong because im right''

Up Votes really don't need a reason. You Like/Agree/Thinks he's funny etc.

And there could be a *Show reasons* button under the Up/Down thingy (Never seen it xD )

Anyone Agree?

Might be a lot of work for the mods to implement.

Not sure if it's worth it, really.

It's just an Idea since im getting pretty tired of getting Down-Voted and not knowing why.

What Pendant said. Might be too much work, however, i believe it would be worth it myself. I've seen many cases were people has been downvoted, where i couldn't even see a good enough reason as to why. It's silly really. So i don't think it would be a waste of time myself, however, possibly too much work for them.

Also being offended by something is a very fine reason to downvote something.


1. No flaming. Debates and disagreements are fine and even encouraged, but incendiary comments and insulting posts are not. This also extends to abusive and offensive language, and circumventing the language filter.
4. No racial, cultural, lifestyle comments/slurs. Period. Remember that this is a mixed community with diverse people.

We can't alter the rep system beyond use it or not. Otherwise it is as is.

One thing is perhaps you could try PM'ing a moderator if you are curious about why you may have been downrepped. They can't speak on behalf of the person dishing it out but they can usually point out what could be misunderstood in a post or what may have been something people would find worthy of a negative rep.

That's a good suggestion Tolvo has. I've also seen cases in which just asking the question in the thread it occurred in resulted in an explanation. However, ultimately it's anonymous and there's no guarantee you'll ever figure it out.
