I think it would be safe to assume it does inflict magic damage like all other miracles unless specifically stated otherwise.
Like the lightning spear tells you it inflicts lightning damage but other don't mention the type of damage and inflict magic.

Have some one cast greater magic barrier and then you use the miracle. Easiest way to know for sure I would imagine.
