yea any attack that has a wide swing arche. run at them then right as you attack hit your analog stick to an angle past them and the wide arch should still hit, might take some practice. the R2 attacks work also

Additionally being close to an enemy that is strafing you while using the locked and unlocked R2 swings can dead angle from heavy damage!

You can find out more about Dead-Angling, and other such nuances in Introduction to PvP thread
This is a small little image to help explain. Open it in a new tab if you can't see all of it.:

I dead angle with the running great scythe R1 all the time, by just angling my self to the side of them... definitely don't need to be facing away, that is only going to get you back stabbed.

I dead angle with the Mura. Especially against people who try to parry me.

I disagree with the idea that this is intended. It's an attack for stunlockers to try to avoid any counters to it? People who basically ONLY try and dead angle get chainstabbed.

can a dead angle be parried? It sounds like no, but I wanted to be sure.

It can depending on the angle you come at. With a buckler it can be parried anywhere but behind your opponent, meaning dead left and dead right running attacks can be baited for dead anglers.

I've never used dead-angling, at least not intentionally. Bleed works better. Also dead-angling is easy to counter. Most guys leave their backs exposed and if not I will just grab a spear and kill you from a distance.
