Gaping Dragon Strategy update request

Hey guys, I beat this dragon yesterday and didn't believe how easy this boss is when I noticed his super flaw. And I read the wiki strategies about him, curious if this strategy is mentioned... and it isn't! I can't believe it, am I the only one that discovered this super easy strategy?

First and foremost, this dragon is incredibly stupid. This is, what he does: when you stand in front of him, but way out of reach of his slam attack, say, about twice of his reach, he STILL TRIES TO SLAM YOU, like you're standing right next to him! So, obviously, he totally fails which makes him vulnerable. So you do a few quick strikes, go out of his way, because he will dash, and repeat the whole process. Remember to always, ALWAYS be out of the reach of any of his attacks and I can assure you, he will be no challenge at all and no flask will be spilled.

For this particular boss every other strategy is inferior.

i think everyone uses this strategy. I sure as hell have been since the first time i fought him back at release

If this is the strategy of bait slam and dash, run round side, hack at the tail/rear i think that's pretty common, though i will add it in if indeed it is missing.. with that strategy you need not take a single hit.

Edit: You forgot to mention that player can trigger his engorge attack even by standing out of it's range. This is the most crucial part of this strategy imo, because with this player doesn't even have to dodge any of his attacks.
