it can be prevented if you wear a ring of sacrifice you do not lose souls or humanity when you die.
if you are a white or blue phantom, you dont lose any souls or humanity from death either.

White/Gold Phantom if you are helping someone by being summoned to their world. Blue Phantom if you are invading as a Darkmoon Blade, or Forest hunter.

Might I suggest a Spider Shield, Poisonbite Ring, and Rusted Iron ring then. A lot of death is to be had on the way down.

i suggest using dragon shield against her.. seriously if you summon npc maneater mildred as a meatshield you cant lose, well unless you decide it's a good idea to get hit by her magic blast..

Oh yeah, be very careful when hitting her from behind. Her big magic explosion is telegraphed well, but her booty fire pollen shake can easy catch you off guard and massacre you.

Yeah, you lose all humanity when you die, but if you can make it back to your bloodstain without dying, you can get it all back.
You will have to reverse hollowing at the bonfire to become fully human again however.
