Thanks for the link. I've been wanting to record stuff too, but have no idea how. Is it very complex? Bear in mind I'm completely clueless when it comes to tech. COMPLETELY. The hdpvr is super easy to use, actually. It's a pass-through device, so you just run your ps3 (or xbox) component cables into it, then it comes with its own set that you run from there into the TV.
Recording is via a usb cable...it comes with a software that you install on your laptop, then just launch the program, and recording is as simple as pushing the "Record" button and then "Stop" when you're finished. There's also some quality settings you can adjust to your liking (again very user friendly).
I guess the only downside is that a lot of people play their games on HDMI nowadays and you can't use HDMI with this device...has to be component, but if that's okay with you it's a great product.

I wanted to record some of my game play, make gifs and record the invasion sound to make aring tone, but i would pay 200$ just for that
