    Question on Pivot Parry?

Post by Seignar on Mon Aug 27, 2012 9:37 pm

    Does it work in PvP?
Ahem, what is the difference in time it takes to register? Normal Parry
registers at the end of the animation, Pivot parry registers technically
    during the recovery frames?

    wait what?

its the same animations unless you push forward and L2 like a kick, then window gets bumped up sooner.

all that's left is knowing how to parry the different weapons and accounting for the delay.
only difference with a pivot parry is that you crank back on the analog stick to pull a 180 then immediately hit the parry when you assume they'll bs you.

    i'm sorry i don't think i understand what you're asking.

He's asking about the common delay from lag, which yes that is a common timing for it.

Don't worry Rifter I think I have every type of parry figured out and I have never heard of a pivot parry myself?

Please explain better Tolvo or OP? If there's lag usually you'll take the hit and then they will go into parry animation?

Nope. You have to time the parry for when it will count as they are swinging to you. Not when they are actually swinging.

A pivot parry is when you turn yourself around, manually, and parry an attack. Since you can immediately change your facing while unlocked it's a tool primarily used to stop backstabs. Though it can also be used to parry attempted punishes on Dead Angled attacks.

All parries have *similar* register windows, or active frames. There is a wonderful youtube video about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hrh94Dc-h0

The "pivot" only references the quick manner in which you force yourself to face your opponent, it doesn't effect the parry itself at all.

Hmmm if I see someone chopping around that much usually don't go for a parry...so I'm not that familiar with parrying earlier than the normal window to account for that much lag...with just a little lag I parry the same but usually I will take a partial hit...then they will go into animation!

Ya Jansport I fight unlocked a lot so I understand changing directions or 'pivoting' into a parry...doesn't appear as tho that is what they are talking about!!!

WAAAAY to risky to counter a BS I would say a counter BS is safer. I would only use it to stop a chain BS attempt!
