How to fight dead angle user?

So I was doing pvp in the forest and came across this guy with lightning falchion who does not lock on opponent and uses consecutive dead angle swings. it's really hard to bs because the guy's not locking and when a bs do land, it's often a empty stab because he swings as I go by. I also tried to parry on second swing, but he never swing straight at me so parry don't really work. As you know, lightning falchion +5 does so much damage it's no joke.
Just want to hear you guys' opinion about fighting dead angle.

For falchion, distance is your best friend. Keep moving and strafe him in circles. That will make his job harder if he isn't locked on.

Everybody will eventualy show a pattern. For example, he can attack to your left-right-left-right, so you could parry the opposite side of his current attack.

I have to say make use of weapons / techiniques that give you range superiority over him, spears, scythes, halberds are good and most dead anglers with that weapon use it two handed and dont guard.

Thus keep him back use running thrusts to hit them by pass him, or even those side step attacks.

yeah but fed and others use them to good effect and they can trash you if you come into their range

i'm actually checking out the frames per second and comparing them to other weapons on the halberd atm.. and the recovery animation to a roll on that r1 whiff is nasty.

Im trying to understand why you posted this meme...... I just spoke out of personal experience. Its what happened to me and im now trying to suggest it to the OP...

Range is your best friend. After doing some dead angle practice myself, I've found that the most range a dead angle guy will have is the scythe's range, which is enough distance for the longer spears (MLBH, DSS, Pike, D's spear)

As well, they're extremely bad with stamina, so poison knives and arrows, Rotten Pine Resin on spears, and weapons like the GLSS and the large club will completely wreck there game.

Long range weapons... I've never used halberds before. I guess it's a good time to pick it up. I do think spear is the better choice, but you know, spears are kinda that ()...Like I can feel opponent thinking " dude, you wana win that badly?(with a sorry looking face)" whenever i pull out a spear.

Then go archery. They think you're free souls/humanity, till you surprise them with the fact that you can avoid there hits and be JUST outside there reach while you just take single shots at them.

I often just BS dead angles. You just walk up to them, tank the first hit and then BS them. But if they´re smart enough to only hit once then i gets hard.

:suspect: You know what we're talking bout, right?! Good dead anglers CAN'T be backstabbed, since they're locked off they can change position to follow you till you're stunlocked.

No I have never..... I just like to talk big..... in actuallity I dont even know how to consistently dead angle with my great scythe....:oops:

You can't do more than 2-3 angles with the GS, and you're better off just mixing 2h R2's, 1h R2's, oh and running/backstep r1's at random.

No Cloudy Viral learned not to do too many of those R2s, they are so easy to parry lol

I did.....only after a roll to counter Fed's R1's

Then he caught on to that..... So I started running R1's..... while it worked.... it was not cool.

So I got better!

Weapons like the Murakumo have quite poor range and it's easy to evade their
attacks so just use that to your advantage.

But murakumo are devastating when buffed or coupled with super high END

Spurgon, I don't think you remember the few times we have fought haha.

The best trick against dead anglers is either stun lock, or a bow. Stun lock because often they swing like mad knowing they can't be parried or blocked, meaning that if you can stunlock go for it. Bows since many dead angle weapons are a bit slow, or require them to stand still swinging. When you dead angle you don't step forwards when attacking like normal, so range is pretty much the best option. As well spells are always great, when you know they'll start swinging like crazy stand just out of their range and hit them with a GC, or try to time a Great Fireball or something.
