LOL I know but it's the truth. I really got bored out of spears because I felt like I was using very minimal effort to kick @$$, so I just equip them as a secondary backup and draw them when my HP is low and guess what, they almost always save my life. I even suggested the DSS to my bff which was a newbie to the game and PvP and guess what, he was using it like a pro.

Ok I will try this if I have the time (I'm supposed to be taking a break from DkS but damn it's addicting + the forum doesn't help me from staying away from it lol.) Today was about 3~5 matches that I said let me try the damn bow spears are so f**** annoying well let's give them annoyance and it just worked.

...idk what the big deal is. I havent had trouble vs a spear player yet. they can sit behidn their shield all day. I have spells i can just keep throwing at them. they secodn they want to melee i just jump on them. their poise always breaks before mine and with the MLGS the second their poise or shield stamina breaks its over.that weapon doesnt take like any stamina to swing. I have killed a ton of people with it just by baiting them with to come at me when i should be out of stam on a normal weapon.

Im not pro at game at all but i jsut have never had a problem with a spear player.

Spells are very effective against shield users, yeah.

And most players haven't, because thank god almost no one use them. I realize you say you don't have a problem with turtles yeah me neither they are mostly newbies scared of dying. What I'm talking about here is hardcore SL 120 Burg duels where people 2 hand them and they feel like gods.

Which are fairly easy to deal with Wyrm, I just don't understand the issue with spear users. They're using a weapon they like to use. You like to demonize them as if they are doing something wrong, which I'm not a fan of doing to other players for no reason at all.

No no don't get me wrong I have nothing against their use I'm just trying to find a way to counter them, as I do with other weapons. But spears specifically give me problems.

Then say that, don't use some insane hyperbole to give yourself some sort of smug satisfaction when you defeat them, talk about them like normal players.

Think of it as some kind of rant lol. But really thank god almost everyone underestimates them.

My best strategy for spears is to come at them like a crazed mad man...with DWGR you can unlock and roll right through there attacks...then get a quick dead angle in when you roll past them with a katana or fast weapon...the trick for me is to take the range advantage they have away by staying close...if they hit R1 more than once its parry time!

I also rock 53 poise on every build to tank hits so I would say poise and parry skills are the best defense for spears!

Also if your annoyed and can't parry them with poise you can tank a hit and poise BS them

two hand a bone wheel shield, they can't perorm mid attack counter attacks cause you block hits while attacking...

Yes the shield and any kind of turtling is very effective against them. Specially against those who use them 2 handed and roll poke all the time.

I'm using the leo ring spear build at the Burg. I can't believe how powerful and easy to use it is. I just fought against a buffed DMB Falchion. He was 2 handing it, seamlessly trying to stunlock me with it. I just roll poke as expected, with the leo ring it was an even easier kill. I feel bad.
