So i started a new build today and I was using Beatrice to kill the stone knights because I was only lvl 8 or so and I wanted to buy that magic key from Andrea, but anyway after summoning her a few times I noticed her hair wasn't the same color every time sometimes it was silvery white other times it was orangey brown. any ideas why? btw it was both while looking at the summon sign and as a phantom.

In the wiki, Beatrice is described as a self-made woman.
She doesn't need a MAN to tell her what color her hair is or isn't.

i don't mind her making her own style decisions but changing hair colors every other time I meet up with her is a bit much lol.Baiulus wrote:In the wiki, Beatrice is described as a self-made woman.

The clustered hair dye jobs might fry her hair, but she's her own woman, dammit!

We actually had some discussion on this in the Archives. I've compared her to the art book with the binoculars and coulda swore her hair was pretty dark with the white phantom aura making it look wonky from certain angles. Might have to make another trip though.......

Actually, I say her hair white on the summon sign, but I could've sworn it was brownish the time before now that you mention it.

I've been away from the game awhile. Maybe I'll pop in tonight. My belief was the aura made it look different based on your angle of view. I couldn't get a good grasp of hair color until I ran up the steps up a bit then back down to get lower than her. Then binoculars to look at her hair. A few trials might sort things out. That's intriguing though that none of us have the same answer. I can say for certain that (from my test anwyay) the face is changed a decent amount from the art book with a few costume details changes as well. The saddest thing is that there is no smoke from the staff like the book.

Best way I found to look at her was stepping on her sign at the bottom of the moonlight stairs.

I did that and it was pretty good. However, her hat obstructs much of her from many angles and you need to be very close to the sign to get the view. By summoning her and moving around you can get different angles (like underneath to see her face better) and use either binoculars or a zoom view from a bow to scan individual components better. I believe Tolvo tried messing with me during a discussion of the art book by suggesting that the book art might not be Beatrice since Beatrice doesn't use a wand in game. I took a close look at anything that stood out and compared between the two so I had to get her from many angles.

Hey, a girl's got to look good.
Don't be jealous just because she has some luxurious hair she can play around with.

shes dead in your time, so your summoning past versions of her, so the brown hair is younger the white hair older. no reason the ss should summon the same beatrice every time.

I got very close to the wall and changed the camera angles to look ad there was no question about the color it was extreamly clear (a few times i even got the hat to glitch away only showing her head) I know what the colors were idk why tthey chaged.skarekrow13 wrote:I did that and it was pretty good. Leeroy, that's why this is so intriguing. It seems we've all had different experiences while all doing valid tactics to get a good look. Sparkly has a great explanation but why they'd go that far into the detail is beyond me. But awexome. I might do a few tries tonight and get back with some results. It's been awhile since I looked plus the more data we have the better the conclusion.

Cool tell me what you find out, I agree that sparkly's explanation makes sence.skarekrow13 wrote:Leeroy, that's why this is so intriguing. Hair is usually white when summoning phantoms, even if they are not. Her hair shows itself to be brownish blond, and messy.

Sometimes it was brownish blonde sometimes it was white both before and after summoning.Acidic_Cook wrote:Hair is usually white when summoning phantoms, even if they are not. Her hair shows itself to be brownish blond, and messy.

I have found that usually trying to summon someone they convert their colour to white hair (silver). It is how I saw it, anyways.

So interesting finds. I summoned her 7 times. For my procedure I looked at her at the sign, summoned her, Black Crystaled her butt outta dodge, quit, reload, repeat.
So....the first two times when I stood on the sign her hair was dirty blonde. Every other time on the sign it was white. She also did not appear to have pupils with the white hair look. Every time I summoned her, she had brown hair. The light she has around her while summoned makes it look reddish or blonde at certain angles, primarily from a front view so actual color was taken from the locks at the back of her neck which remained consistent. Always brown.
So......I was thinking, the Black Crystal indicates one should not be prone to fickle use of the item, lest you spoil relationships or some such. What if there's a secret with this? As in, you have to send away x number of phantoms with the crystal and it unlocks? Maybe if I had sent her home more times, there would have been more changes.

My biggest question though is which npc would most likely react to being jerked around? I always assumed the black crystal was referencing online play but it doesn't really say anything about online in the full description. If there's a secret to it it would be available offline too. So....I think Lautrec seems like he might get pissed off but he already has a quest so maybe not. Hmmm....

It could easily be any of the four that don't have story's but since Solair and Lautrec are in your game they seem like they might be more likely to do something to you.skarekrow13 wrote:My biggest question though is which npc would most likely react to being jerked around?
