Why is my dmg so low?

Hey, I think my dmg is too low and I'm not sure why. Playing my first char, slvl 86, at dukes archives atm. Using +4 occult winged spear, 37 faith, 398 attack. My dmg for those crystal golems is ridiculous, around 70. Just played with a dude that had a scythe and dished out 400+ dmg on them and I felt useless.

My guess is my faith is too low as I begun puting points into it just a few lvls ago, most of my points were endurance and vitality until then. Is that the problem or is my weapon just plain weak? Thanks for any help.

Well yes, if you want the most out of Occult you're going to want your faith extremely high. The issue comes with the split damage of your weapon, which doesn't split in the same manner on the golems because of their resistance. Because of player armor a weapon that does two damage types will usually be out done by one that does a single type.

Yeah crystal golems of all types, both amber and blue have a high resistance to magic. Elemental weapons tend to do the most damage. Also, like tolvo said you're dealing with two damage types which provide two separate defense options for the golem. =D

Alright I read that wrong, I thought he was saying someone in PvP did that much more damage than him, my bad haha. Yeah, the golems have high magic resist, and faith based weapons deal magic damage. So an elemental weapon, or a straight physical weapon will do a lot more damage.

make a fire or chaos if you can have 10 humanities at all times since its stronger, all the mobs in duke's are weak to fire, also attune pyro intead of your faith spells since theyre not gonna you any good. make sure you buff with slb since slb destroys bosses(specially dragons)

The enemies at the archives are insanely strong against magic attacks. Go physical, lighting or chaos.

That Occult stuff is not even going to leave a scratch on those golems.

Haha thanks for the tips, everybody. I made a +7 fire gargoyle halberd and it was good enough to take me to the end of the game. Just finished it today. Great game.
