Mysterious platform + item

This has been bugging me for a while now, but i've never seen anyone on the forums mention it, so i will instead. In the duke's archives prison area, underneath the cell with the bonfire (the one you spawn in after dying to seath), there's an apparently inaccessible platform with a corpse with an item on it (stand directly opposite the cell on the staircase and its obvious). Does anyone know how to get onto the platform? And what is the item?

Once you get the Archive Extra Key you can go back to your starting cell and toward the back will be some crusties and a locked gate. Unlock the gate, go forth and plunder.

I think its nothing that important but leads to maiden's set or something

To get the Maiden's Set you need to go up the ladder that leads to the door out of the prison area. Before going through the door, look to the left and there's a gap where you can fall. (Be careful not to fall too close to the wall, since you'll bounce off and fall to your death!) Aim for the planks, fall, walk to the other end, and fall to the next planks, then the set will be through an opened gate on the right. Then fall again and you're back at the bonfire.

(Btw the Maiden's Set has ridiculous defense/weight stats when it's fully upgraded. I never use the full ensemble, but the shirt itself has 46 def for 2 weight... )

It's the Maiden's set. Not bad if you upgrade all of the items in that set to 9+ for their weight size.

No.

dingy has better magic defense, +9 chest has 71 highest i've seen but is overall slightly heavier than maidens.
