White Sign Soapstone!

Is using this item the only way to play in co-op ? And you can use it only next to a boss area, right ?

You can use it in any area that has a boss in the entire area. You can only summon before you beat the boss, but you can be summoned in any area even after you beat the boss. As far as I know that's the only way to co op but there's nothing to say you can't help people when you invade them

Does it have any limit based on level ? I ask because i'm trying to convocate a friend and I CAN'T SEE his sign, and he leave it a thousand times. Furthermore, I can see every other sign, but his sign! You know why ?

I believe the game groups people into groups by their location and levels. So if your friend does not get grouped with you you will not see his sign. Best thing to do is put the sign in an out of the way spot and if you still do not see it try putting it down and picking it up a number of times in succession. If this still does not work one or both of you can try to quit and restart.

You have to be within 10% plus ten levels.


I think there a few threads in the wiki as well on this. Try searching coop or something like that.

Also, keep in mind that the game randomized the matchmaking. .I swear I'll be running co-op from sens to archives fine, I get to New Londo and all of a sudden we can't see each others signs. What does help is being princess guard or warrior of sunlight. Someone told me those covenants boost the chances at your sign being seen, I tried and it worked!

Way of the White is supposed to have that effect, as well.

You can use the sign anywhere it's usable- it won't let you put it down somewhere it won't work.

For the best chances of being found by random players, it is suggested to use the white sign soapstone near bonfires when possible. This is because they are high traffic areas where players may reverse-hollow and gain the ability to see the white signs left by other players. Leaving your sign in front of boss fog gates is probably the second best option.

Already explained, the co-op range (people who will see your sign) is:
Your Level, +/- (10 + 10%)

So you take whatever 10% of your level is, add then add 10 that number. You then subtract whatever number that makes to find the lowest players you can be matched with, or add it to see the highest level players.

If a friend is in level range and can't see your sign, you can usually get it to work by removing your sign and recasting it. May take multiple tries.

If you want to get summoned by random people btw, put your sign next to a bonfire, people like help with more than just the boss usually.
