I am in my first play-through and just entered New Londo Ruins. I have read through some posts and dome some searches online, but I do not understand how to upgrade my weapons. I can get them to +5 and then they disappear from my available upgrade list, even though I have large titanite. I wanted to make the Kellogg sword and can't. Please help. Thanks!

Do you havre the large ember? If you do give it to andre then select "modify weapon" off his list. You'll see it and be able to upgrade it. once thats done you can upgrade it normally again.

The Large Ember is in the Depths by the way. Have you explored the Depths already?

Haha i was in the same boat the first time i played the game.
But you need the large ember to get the weapons to +6, and the Very large ember to get them to +11.
As for the boss weapons you need to be able to get to the giant smith in Anor Londo. He is the only one who can forge them.

I have been to The Depths and I gave the large ember to Andrei. I haven't found the very large ember yet, where is that? I was able to upgrade my Knight Shield to +10 but my other weapons get to +5 and then disappear from the list when I'm in upgrade mode. Do I understand correctly - I need the very large ember to go past +5? Thanks for your help. (am I the only one who plays this game every single day???)

No, I can't get past +5 when I go to Reinforce Weapon. I know modify means to turn it into a Magic or Divine, etc. weapon.

Yes, but you need to modify your weapons to +6 anyway.

OH! So once they are +5 from REINFORCE WEAPON then I go to MODIFY?

Yep. Then once they're +6 you have to go back to reinforce.

What are your thoughts on RAW weapons? Because I didn't understand the upgrade system I turned my Halberd to Raw +5. I really like it but I wonder if RAW is a good option.

Never go raw! Never. Its a trap. Raw is the worst option.
