I've always found the Pharis Bow too slow, in all circumstances, in PvP. Perhaps I didn't experiment enough with poison arrows - which may very well be the case. I've never had a problem with my Composite Bow, and have had some minor luck (some amazing moments, but luck at best) with the DSB, though.
I also typically honorably duel, with a bow (like proper bow, not the weapon) and let them buff and no healing or backstabs and all those good rules.

Yeah, I opt for quick weapons, but a dude once lured me in with a dagger and then whipped out smough's hammer...don't see why one couldn't do that with a bow, if they had the stats.
