I used to looke into things far too much, so nowadays I just look at stuff for what it was made to be, and if I see through that, it's no more than a happy coincidence.

You're probably right with Lord of the Flies though Serious...

Re: Brony Thread
to be fair, sometimes there is deeper meaning and/or obvious metaphor, like in death note when L washes light's feet, or the obvious frankenstein metaphor of fear of that which is 'different' (though theres loads of stuff in there like lord of the flies which is utter ****), but others people just bring up and blag it just to make something look better than it really is.
can't help but feel mlp is like that too, though i only watched 3 episodes and found it to be just like every other kids show iv ever watched. if you can find me specific scenes where you can show me i'm wrong that would be fine though

I'll leave that to Wade and Reaper, they seem to know their way around episodes. Meanwhile, thread hijacking!

Re: Brony Thread
Yup. People like to feel smart whenever they find a "hidden meaning" that isn't even there, I guess.
Faust said once, and the current team repeats it sometimes, that the series is aimed towards young people. They would NOT include adult humour even when the young adult/adult demographic is pretty big.
I understand their decision, really. There's "There's character development in this series" and then there is "Hey guys, I think Rainbow Dash is a lesbian. THEY TOTALLY MEANT TO DO THAT, OF COURSE!"
So many movies that are said to be "The creme of the creme of the finer arts" try so hard to be deep that they end up shallow.

But shouldn't they be teaching the kids that it's fine to be lesbians too? Maybe the American government bought them out, to prevent a possible (Albeit unlikely) increase in the *** population.

Re: Brony Thread
thing is, is there really character development :?: or is it simply just character exploration :?:
if i watch episode 4/5 of series one then series 3, will they act differently, or will there just be more known about them.. that's a difference people usually don't bother to distinguish really, but i think is important.

There's both; but the development is a tiny bit more subtle.

Re: Brony Thread
well development can be subtle or obvious, don't matter which to be fair long as it's used in the story...
i guess the main development of character is probably twilight though, starting off as a loner and getting friendship, though it happens almost immediately..

Do remember children will be watching the show, so they had to cut the boring social construction part out.

Define "best".
Best as a matter of superiority? Or preference?
As superiority it is Twilight Sparkle. But for my personal preference it is both Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy

I dunno, Twilight Sparkle could be a lot more useful than Epona if she teleported you around.
By the way Tolvo, how'd the medical thingy go? I don't think I ever read about it.

Chrysalis song came straight out of the Disney's Villain Songs Golden Era.
By the way, I think the reason the show attracts me is the fact that those characters are actually relatable to my life experience.

They also have tramp stamp tattoos. In this day and age, what could be more relatable?

And I'm sure he's not talking in a physical sense, but you probably already know that Serious

WhatDoesThePendantDo? wrote:A curious tidbit, you'll notice how the mares to left of Celestia (Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity) look a lot better and much more faithful to their in-show design than those to right of Celestia (Twilight, RBD, and Applejack).
I wonder what that says about Reaper and what he thinks of each of the individual ponies comprising the Mane 6. :suspect:
At the time of the styling, there weren't tutorials for Rainbow Dash or Applejack, so I had to wing it using a slightly altered version of Twilight's method. Also, Twilight's method was rather difficult when trying to get the horn to still show, as you had to wrap the hair really tightly and I didn't quite get it right. By the time I had cut it it was too late to redo since the mane is now too short to tighten appropriately. So yes, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack are the least accurate, but more because I am unskilled in the art of styling doll hair

yeah pretty much, i was just being pedantic for the hell of it
the tramp stamp thing is EXTREMELY relatable to people though... even if that's more a lil' girl version of a tramp stamp

What you were supposed to get from the clip was that the moral of "I didn't learn anything, I was right all along!" was the moral of the episode, ie; what kids will learn from it. Maybe you just weren't accustomed enough with the series to know that the line "Dear Princess Celestia" always signifies the moment when the moral of the week is about to be explained and so didn't interpret it as such?
Rephrased another way, there's an episode where the moral it teaches to kids is "I didn't learn anything, I was right all along!" Find me another kid's show that decides to teach that
