Hello everybody! I went and bought Demon's Souls at last.

Managed to lose around 25,000 souls at SL30 in 4-2, died like a dozen times to the white skelletons in 4-1, and got one shotted by Vanguard in the prologue. Yeah, I went with the "I'm a Dark Souls vet, this won't be hard."

Oh, boy. silly At the very least, the Adjudicator, the Spider, the Knight, Vanguard and Phalanx have already fallen.

Anyway, I've got a few questions.

1 - When do the diminishing Vit returns start? At 40?

2 - At what point do you reach maximum stamina?

3 - Any recomendation for passing through 4-2? The second Reaper is surprise sex'ing me horribly.

Hey welcome to Demon's!!!! I'll tell you the diminishing returns of stats. Vitality is just like DkS, same HP, don't go past 50 Vit. Endurance is the same as DkS too, after 40 you don't get any more stamina. For Intelligence after 40 you don't get any more attunement slots, but still get MP. For Str, Dex, Magic and Faith diminishing returns in AR of weapons start after 30 stat points. This is also true for catalysts and talismans. I think miracle slots stop at 40 Faith too. Hope this helps.

Hey hey. I enjoy being one-shotted by bosses and new enemies. I do not enjoy lacking knowledge about game mechanics. silly

And yes, WyrmHero, that helped a lot. Thanks!

For 4-2 I summoned some help and used alot of magic to get past those dam cliff skeletons. For the reapers just go up in their face and keep hitting them.

For the second Reaper you can actually sneak up from behind him, you just need to be confident in your rolling control. Just as you enter the room, before you even cross the bridge to the stairs with the first ghost, turn back to look at the entrance and then down and to your left. You should see a small platform along the wall filled with a slightly glowing liquid. Roll of the bridge onto this platform, and then almost directly below you will be the second Reaper. Fall down onto him to stun him, then wail on him until he's dead. Be careful when doing this because if you miss either of the two falls it will kill you, though if you manage to pull it off you can clear the room very quickly and with hardly any hassle.

Thanks for the tips. I fooled around some four or five hours, and defeated the False Idol and Flamelurker. Is it me or magic is kind of a crutch here? I just can't decide which way to go with my character; the lack of easy access to armor sets means your starter set is kind of important for a long while.

So, I just noticed there is a 2nd reaper between what I now know it's the third, and the first. Heh, that explains a lot. silly

Anyway, I bought the game on Friday; and the only worlds remaining in my playthrough are 1-4, 5-2 and 5-3. silly

10-15hs, can't recall exactly. silly Any tips on killing the Red and Blue dragons in 1-1? I guess that killing them there will make them dissapear from 1-2 and 1-4.

Also, saved Ostrava in 1-1. And he totally dissapeared from the rest of World 1. I should check if he's alive. :/

Umm you can't kill them in 1-1, you have to kill red dragon in 1-2 and blue in 1-4, sorry silly

also, that's a rather fast time for 1st playthrough :|

Some of the boss fights I had some idea (mostly because of their status as "special"), and others, I just won by sheer luck. silly

Anyway, any idea how can I determine if my opponent in the Old Monk fight was an NPC or an actual human? He tried some ripostes, but was fighting with claws and a Xanthous headpiece.

It'll always fight with the Old Monk's Headwraps, regardless if it's an NPC or not. It's purely cosmetic though, and even if your opponent isn't wearing it as part of their build it'll show up in place of their normal headgear. Anyway, the way I usually tell is if I can skip the cutscene that shows him being summoned or not. If you can, then it's an NPC. If not, then it's another player. If that doesn't work for you, then you can tell by how it fights. I can say you fought the NPC since it will always have the same build: Gloom Armor with dual-wielding claws. So unless it's another player trying to troll/trick you out by using the exact same setup that's pretty much a surefire way to know.

Yeah, I guess it was an NPC.

Anyway, this must be the first time a FromSoftware game truly bored me. The level design of 5-2 and 1-4 are so bad. The dragon is just so obnoxious, specially when the pauses between fire breath go down to almost nothing when you are almost below him. I sorely felt the lack of a poise system after the first fog gate in 5-2.

I wasted 550 arrows on the Dragon, just to three-shot me at LVL150, with my Flame of Resistance ring. Alright.

You're level 150? Jeez power leveling to the max silly

Is it the time to remind you that stats are no substitute for skill? lol!

Also 5-2 bad? I'd have to disagree, I thought world 5 was good! But world 1 in general wasn't special I have to agree, 1-2 was interesting but too short and the rest is a bit generic for a medieval time RPG really.

Hope you loved world 3 though, my favourite world in terms of atmosphere, I still dread 1-3 even though I know my way around it well

Nah, I just like that level. I have a character in SL100 in DkS. I just wanted to try out SL150 in DS; I found quite enjoyable the fact that it doesn't make that much of a difference.

I just finished the game, btw. Garl Vinland was the hardest fight in the game for me. Couldn't manage to land more than a few parries, and he was pretty resistant to magic. I loved the fact that Astraea actually talks to you, like Priscilla.

Also, the False King fight was pretty exciting. Especially when I found out he can drain levels.

If I had to name my least favourite maps, those would be 3-2 and 2-2. 5-2 wasn't so bad. It was just really long. 3-2 was really weird and time-consuming (but at least I got Yurt's armour). And 2-2 was just long. I was more worried about losing all the time I had spent progressing through the level, than of losing my souls.
Surprisingly, Flamelurker was pretty easy. The Maneatears were more of a threat, thanks to the risk of falling off.
