Would Dark hand be a must equipment to have?

It said that it becomes a shield on the left hand and on the right hand it becomes a weapon able to steal humanity from others. Is there really any benefit from having this? How often do you get this drop from the darkwraiths?

The dark hand is very helpful for getting humanity without farming as no one attacks you after you go all dementor on them. Seriously though, you can drain all the firelink peeps for about 15 humanity and they'll still like you.

I always thought that was weird but it's true. Stealing humanity this way is always a must do before beating the game. My first playthrough I did that and then kindled all the fires I actually use.

The shield is nice for all around defense. If you plan on taking a hit or two anyway it's worth the less than 100% physical defense it provides as it's really high in everything else. Under the right circumstances it's one of the best shields in the game.

yup, and it weighs nothing, so bonus!

Eh, its a pretty nice piece of gear, I would hardly call it essential though.

I would use a silver knight in general, crest if you are fighting a magic boss
black knight if fire and on the rare occasions that lightning is necessary effigy. its problem is its stability....

Quick question what shield would you use for defense? Like a all rounder stat shield.

All around shields are usually the great shields and mostly due to stability and relatively high all around resistance. dancash gave a good list of specialized shields for certain situations. I personally float between the Shield of Artorias for PvE for stability and a +14 Bloodshield for PvP due to bleed resistance (there's a lot of katanas out there.......plus I use the Lifehunt on occasion), pretty good stats and I have the option to parry when I think I can land one.

it kicks *** if you parry, weights next to nothing, has a fast parry and has realy good res, i always is either the dark hand or the heater shield.

It's extremely overpowered at low levels. Often I clear New Londo early just for the dark hand. Being able to drain dozens of humanity at no cost can seriously buff a low level character.

Nope, 234 is crazy high, also I would actually say the silver knight is pretty great all around. it parries and such

there is only one problem with the dark hand it cant be upgraded so you cant increase its stabylity i still love it though, the dragging aura it leaves behind is beautiful

Dark Hand is a light use for agains thte Four Kings and their blast attacks. i don't usually use shields, so I use the Dark hand to counter their blasts and save myself some time.

As well, the the us not needing to scale with this weapon gives it a quality of it being a base eapon, and goes well with ghosts weapons. if you get it early in the game (which you can if you got to New Londo first or close to then), then you can have it as a light shield, while you use Ghost Blades to kill enemies.

And trust me, the Ghosts and Dark are good at killing.

What are some quick ways to get the Dark hand by any chance?

Darkwraith Killin' Or joining darkwraiths for ONE hand.

I'm a huge proponent of the Dark Hand.

I prefer a Skull Lantern

I mostly use skull lantern when I'm in the tomb of the giants or a place that is dark for me to see. I use skull lantern in dark anor londo just for humorous ideas.

Is getting it from darkwraiths a rare drop?

I use the Skull Lantren as my Shield with Yolky

Drops from Darkwraiths easier to get than Slabs from Darkwraiths. Even more so easier to get Dark hand than Rubbish from dark hands, since they don't drop rubbish... except for chunks.

Farm enough DWs and you should be good on Dark Hands. The drop really isn't that bad.
