So..I don't get it..Kinda funny

First - I am a newb at this game and really a newb at PVP. I am in the basement going to free the sorcerer so I can buy some spells. I get invaded. This guy has that Catarina bubble like armor so I think I am probably going to get stomped seeing as I am like SL18. He hits me down to 1/4 health and I hit back waiting for the inevitable then...

He shrugs - I shrug, He bows - I bow. He drops a bunch of stuff on the ground and backs off. I pick up some cool stuff, soul of MB, souls of Siff, soul of Ormstein. As I pick up the last item he rolls and BS's me.

I'm not mad because I think I was owned anyway but why drop all the goodies and why a cheap BS - he could have about one shot me anyway.

Not complaining - just wondering - it was kind of funny...

Who knows :') sounds like one of the nicer invaders to me... maybe he gave you those items because he felt bad killing someone so much lower level than him but still wanted to get the kill ?

Well, at least the griefer gave you some nice things for your trouble

I should totally do that, get given a load of boss souls so that the knights honour trophy becomes trivial...

Hmm... is he a griefer if he provides boss souls though. I know that grief would not be my reaction to getting that stuff early game

I just use the term griefer as the moniker that includes all low level invaders who use gear that will always far outclass the gear the people you will be invading use.

Aha. fair enough although catrina armour is in sens so it isnt too too bad could have been the dreaded giants after all (or thorns. I could see that being nasty on people who had yet to discover the importance of poise)

No he was red - I've been invaded a few times and never get to fight - I either get snuck up on and BS'd or the invader leaves before I see him - always red phantoms. Guess I'll learn

some people make no sense in this game, with that said i've come across some great stories from this game on both sides of the spectrum.

if they've all been red also it prolly means you've yet to sin. once u sin blue phantoms will appear.

this is a rather common thing, in my opininon if your a new person you shouldnt want all this high level gear though cause your missing all the experiences of finding new weapons and having to grind to level up, and the terrifying fear and exctiment this game gives to new players, just my personal opinion

Hey, he cant do anything with the souls till anor londo and even then you need a +10 weapon.... which means need to be mid game at least. I wouldn't have said it was an experience damaging gift.

maybe, iunno i just think back to when i first put the disk in my ps3 half an hour later i was stuck in the tomb of the giants crying in the corner

yeah i foudn the catacombs rather easy, tob of the giants not so much hence the aforementioned crying in the corner

Indeed. I can understand that. regenerating skeletons scared the hell out of me with starter pyromancer gear though! I still say thats a pretty amazing feat
either that or I was awful initially.

yep that is what I do but it took me a little while to figure it out. also It doesn't work for the set outside the first bonfire! ahh nostalgia
Tomb of giants first time... I died so many times I can now spot the telegraphs of the giant skeletons moves by the spots of light from their eyes... >.<

Yes I agree - I have obtained the Moonlight Butterfly and Iron Golem soul myself and am now at Ormstein and Smough. Gonna fight them tonight after work should be fun. The stuff he gave me is just sitting there...

Indeed! The handful of NON-regenerating skellies in the graveyard were stomping my starting wanderer's @$$ ! I quickly decided I needed to try to head in another direction!

Well, the dude invaded to get humanity. At least he gifted some stuff on his way out. Win/win.
