Leo Ring thoughts
I'm really liking this ring. The counter timing is tough, but when you get it, it really hurts. With the Balder Side Sword, I did 691 damage with 1H R2 counter.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
that thing hits hard, i was dueling with roan the other day and the lucerne did about 900 2h, with the bss 2h you can get up to a 1,000 per hit!

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
I've been using it with a +15 standard pike, in combination with the dragon roar, LDC ring, and an unupgraded pyro handed power within. Been slaughtering people in PvP with it.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
I really don't understand this ring all that well. Do I need a greatshield or at least the Iron Round Shield to connect on the counter damage or would a medium shield do the job?

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
I think counter damage is when the opponents weapon bounces off or you attack right before your opponent attacks. I think.

It works on hits during attack animations and on staggered enemies.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
You need to connect with your attack at almost the exact same time their attack hits your shield. I've been using great shields with it simply because they can absorb more damage when people attack you. With a dragon build it's not like I have to worry about my shield's weight. To be exact I've been using Havel's Greatshield. Works like a charm.
^ or what he said. It's not necessarily directly at their hit, but that's a good way to plan your timing to nail it every time. It's basically when you get a completely clean hit. Like when your opponent leave themselves completely opened.

A good option is to stagger them with a spell and then go to town.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
I haven't managed to get it to work with dragon force yet. Despite a hell of a lot of trying.
Or maybe I have been and just haven't noticed the difference because you do such obscene damage after DF anyway.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
They don't have to hit your shield. You can do it 2H. Hit them almost the same time they hit you. A little before or a little after. It works better with long weapons, so your hit connects, but theirs is too short to hit you.

I really want to try this ring with the Greatsword... Only I never get around to it. I'll do it today then!

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
thrust ATTACKS not thrust damage unfortunately other wise the pickaxe would gain the rings benefit and it doesn't. thus the r2 of most longswords work and even the greatswords r2 works as its a thrust attack, though it may be too slow to work.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
... wait. So a normal halberd will work with the leo ring, but not any other halberd?! Will the normal halberd FINALLY get its dues?! I really want to try this now. I've always LOVED the normal halberd's moveset for PvP. Just sucks in PvE because it seems to miss anything that isn't an NPC or a knight.

It has a thrust normal attack? I thought the normal halberd was the only one that could do that?cloudyeki wrote:Oh I guess that gives the Giant's Halberd an actual use too >_>

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
It's r2s are just like the normal halberd's r1s (sounds strange, right?) only with a longer reel up.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
Huh. Idk how well that longer reel up would work with the need for an exact timing with the Leo ring, but enough practice could make it work. I want to make a halberd build. Like, just use halberd build, and see what one is best.

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
Scythe and G.Halberd. I've played with EVERY halberd in-game already (and all my attack stats are 50)
Lucerne too, but the moveset is a lil on the weird side for me >_>

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
*sigh* Normal halberd needs some love. And sythe has less damage than G. Halberd. And doesn't the halberd-type-weapon-thing (I forget the name) have almost an identical moveset? (I see you chose the two halberds with identical movesets.)

Re: Leo Ring thoughts
It's the use of the moveset that determines the weapon performance. That's my philosophy.
You forgot about the scaling, but they are pretty much equal except for the G.Halberd's added resistances. The Lucerne is...It's r1's are just not my type of attacks. But I agree that the normal halberd needs more love than it gets. and less love to the BKGA. Far to many of those bloated things >_>
