Naming a character

So yeah i love to make names and backstories to all of my characters and this time is no exception but I"m having trouble with the naming of this particular fellow.

That is to say I have a name for him but it wontt fit in the name box given.

He should be called Avarik Tyrhannos, of the old Astoran Noble Family the Tyrhannos of the Westland (as they are in the book I'm writing).

However you get given something like 13 spaces and one has to be the gap between first and sur names.

So here I am wondering how to contract this down.

I can run (Last names first with first names second)

Tyrhannos- Avik, Arik

Tyrhanos- Arvik, Avrik, Javik,

Tyranos, Avarik, Avrijk.

Btw Tyrhannos is pronounced- Tir-HA-nos or Tir-RA-nos

Anyone can suggest which of the aforementioned names I should pick.

Tyrhanos-Javik is my pick. Maybe that's because of the J. And, you know. My name ----->

What's more important, though, is that you post this book of yours on the forums. Or PM it to me. or something. 'Cause I wanna read it!

I went with Avrik the Crow as his name. I know his family name is Tyrhannos and thats enough for me.

Plus I can add more lore about the Crow and House Tyrhannos.

the way you want the name pronounced the 1st or second fit better. the first option fits the pronounciation best though. however I like the 5 letter first name better so Id choos option 2.

Well Viral I just had a great idea. Your toon grew up in Astora, mine did too. Lets chuck a brotherly rivalry in their lore. If that fits your book.

Hmmm. How about a girl from Carim who wanted to be a knight but got exiled because at this time and age, women aren't supposed to be warriors. You guys ever hear of the woman who pretended to be a male leader? She won many battles, and the country would have done good to keep her, but instead she was put to death. I think I should look that up, combine that with Carim, and do some awesome RPing.

Work Lautrec into that. He's probably the one who betrayed her in the end. Also dont forget the Earl of Carim may be involved in some very heretical soul stealing experiments.

OOoooh! Lautrec could be the one who had her turned undead, and she doesn't know. But he pretends to be innocent. ooooooh. Goood gooood stuff! This is making me giggle!

And the Earl could be like her long lost father! Ok, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. I gottah write this down!

I'm totes gonna do that after I get started. I'll most likely get stuck, but I'll try my best to look up stuff for my own as well as use ENB's videos.

@ Dough- Perhaps not brotherly rivalry as the Tyrhannos Line died with Avrik many centuries ago when their arch enemies House Pentahadron brought the full might of thier Knights to bear on the smaller, weaker House Guard of the Tyrhannos.

However it is well know the heirs of House Tyrhannos do not die easily. In fact a no one has killed a Tyrhannos born knight in well over four hundred years not since the time of Ademar Tyrhannos when the knight Misaeryen the Black crushed Ademars skull with his cruel mace, even that was barely enough to slow Ademar down. It took four of the Astroan Clergy to pacify him and seven brave knights to hack Ademar apart four of whom died in the attempt.

Now Avrik wanders the lands known only as The Crow, an enforcer and agent so revered and reviled that the mere mention of his name in some parts of Astora is enough to face the death penalty while in other countries, Carim, his defiance of the Astoran Nobility earned him great noteriety and a following off devout human agents..

haha I knew it would be a good idea to piss Carim off. Screw the gods Im a knight.

I always tend to name my Characters with japanese symbols xD eg; 誠 it means makoto - direct translation to english is Magic Sword but I enjoy the japanese pronounciation of the names etc

You may have pissed Carim off, but they can't do anythiing. Carim's in chaos because followers of Fina and followers of Velka are now at war ever since the start of the decline of the age of fire.

I thought you were intentionally meaning Joan of Arc xD but sweet - I might write A book based on some of my characters - btw Carim is Ethiopia imo as their main weapon is the Shotel and the Shotel was originally created in Ethiopia so that they could hook behind their enemies shields to kill them etc and Zena is Wales :L at least Domnhall speaks Welsh - Aye Simwae <-- Cymraeg right there
