Could the old wikispace forums be disabled completely?

I was pretty sure there must have been a discussion going on about this longer time ago, but I could not find anything. It's very likely that I missed something, sorry if that is the case!



So: Could it be disabled/removed? If so: Are there arguments against?

Although the old wiki page has already been removed from the wiki sidebar, countless people still seem to end up there. :| So I was wondering if it would be possible to find a better solution for it, instead of manually directing them to the new forums everytime.



And how do they all and up there? I think it's just because of the search function...

Or maybe because of google, searching for information about secrets or whatever and taking it as their advantage. or they just want to try to fill as much space within the wiki forums because they know that barley anyone uses them. or perhaps it is the search for wiki.

I really don;t care. it doesn't hurt the wiki itself, no? If they remove it or not, it does not affect the wiki information, just the post board in the wiki. Still, the general thought was that they would lock the thing, however none have.

I think about the people who ended up there in the ghost forums, maybe even made an account there just to ask a question, instead they could have been directed to here already in the first place. :|

Locking the whole thing would be great, preventing people from posting there still.

Darkson, they have 3 options:
1. Lock every thread individually, which would take a stupid amount of time.
2. Delete the forum completely.
3. Leave it for people to access still.

Which you think is the best course of action? I'll give you a clue, it's a prime number.

1. I was not talking about locking every thread individually, but locking the whole thing. And I wonered if it would be possible. But regarding your suggestion - that's stupid

2. That wouldn't be necessary... still it can be a good resource... although people will keep trying to post stuff, adding their 2 cents, regardless how old the thread is... Personally I wouldn't mind if the whole thing got deleted

3. ... and manually locking every thread where there is a new post...

So 2 and 3 being prime numbers... I'd say 2 is a better option

And I thought 2 was the most unreasonable option!

No they can't just lock the whole thing, wikispaces doesn't work like that unfortunately, as that would be ideal.

We have tried to disable/delete but the sheer volume results in a time out.

I don't understand why wikispaces doesn't give you an easy option to just lock it for everyone.

I mean, it's not an option that would ruin the whole layout of any wiki.
