Opponent's soul level and souls acquired

Does anyone here know the correspondence between soul level and the souls acquired from killing that player? I was PVPing and killed this guy and I got like over 800,000 souls. I was like "Oh ****!" My character's sl is 89. Anyone have any information on this? Thanks.

I think you get a % based on how much souls the guy needs to level up, im not sure about this though.
And 800k souls is sick lol! most i got was like 400k, so lucky you!

If you are the invader you get 10% of what it takes for the invadee to level up.

If you are the invadee you get 50% of what it takes the invader to level up.

Either way, you do get more souls as a host and less as an invader. I'm not sure on the actual numbers, but that is a fact.

The most I've ever gotten was around 3 mil, but that was from punting a modder off a cliff, so he probably had some unnatural level.

This is very interesting.

I do know for a fact that it is level related, (as opposed to how many souls the invader has).

I think it's mainly level related, but I also believe it's a bit more complicated than just what level the other player is. I've received over a million souls twice and received 3 mil once, which should be impossible.

I have as well, but those large numbers I received were from definite modders.

I have a level 77 Darkwraith in the Tomb. To reach level 78 takes 35,450 souls. 50% of which is of course17,725.

I invaded three different hosts and sent them this message:

"Hi, I am doing some tests, in a minute I will jump off a cliff, will you please tell me the exact amount of souls you receive? Thanks. "

My three replies:
"17,725, and thanks lol"
"Not alot, about 17000, but I am at level 530 " (Wish I had gone and fought this one, lol)
"17725"

The amount of souls received for killing the host should also be relatively easy to confirm. Provided one approaches the situation politely, lol.
