I suck at randoms

So, I was PvPing in the Kiln. Here's a blow-by-blow. I sucked. Couldn't parry, barely could BS. Even got my arse kicked by Zweis. Embarassing.

But, in my defense, the lag was over a second at times. Part of me wondered if a couple people were using a lag switch. Still, I was sucking before the lag, I really sucked during it.

Strange. I really suck at randoms. During scheduled duels, I . . . . suck less. But, the difference is notable. It is not just because I know who I'm fighting and their strategies. Even during FC with new players, I do much better.

Anyone else have this problem?

Maybe because you know what to expect with fight club? Even if there are new members, there are rules set out that everyone adheres to. Therefore, you can feel comfortable knowing that most everyone will play by the rules and you can therefore settle into the groove. However, in randoms, many people play by their own rules, when all of those other tactics come into play, you don't know if someone will be honorable, or if they are going to chainBS the match. These added factors may be playing with your focus a bit, so maybe a brief lapse allows them to get in their with their attacks.

That could be. It tells me I need to fight more randoms. So, I can broaden my PvP skills. It is just weird to go from doing well to struggling to win.

I know you hate it, but the forest would help with that. a "trial by fire" if you will.

ironic. at fight club on sat my high end/high poise tank with a chaos blade was like 50/50, maybe even less! but with randoms in the kilin, i can go for on serious streaks.

i think it just goes to say that organized pvp draws in higher quality players for pvp. and outside of that, in the wild, your refined skills aren't as effective.

I do play a lot in Forest as host and i must say that FC did me well! Im a better player now. It funny to see someones invading me with a havels set and BKGA and see s me waiting alone with my little claws and bit by bit loses from me, gives me satisfaction. But if theres one BS'ber coming for my im as good dead!

I suck in FC, due to the very small arena.
But against "randoms" (and sometimes they are pretty good) I always win, even when they're playing like jerks.

I am good at randoms many times much better than FC.

im 50/50 with randoms sometimes i kill pple in about 10 secs and sometimes i get owned in about the same time but mostly to lagstabbers and fishers.

I feel the same way Reim. I am to the point that I do not PVP outside of FC much anymore. When I first bought the game, I PVPed everywhere. It was fun, but there are just certain exploited mechanics that made the game less fun to me. I am certain that FC has made me better and I am actually fine with this since I prefer FC.

I ONLY pvp when im building a new build cause i need to souls. From the moment my toon is at 120 i stop pvp and go host a certain area just for FC

I constantly pvp. Duels are plenty of fun but i want those desperate scrambles too and fc doesn't have them.

I'm the opposite, as I've probably mentioned many many times. Random Forest PvP, incredibly easy for me. FC, damnit why you no fall for parry!

same here green, last build i made was hollow until i reached sl 120 to fight in btown.

Interesting to see others have the opposite problem as me. I need to do more PvP outside of FC (since it isn't on every night). Although, almost all of my builds are 120, thanks to FC. And, all of the builds I make are designed for FC.

Hey, I pvp in the forest and Fc without casting, and I have 30 faith.

Man if you guys saw the build I use at 120 for forest hunting, you'd probably cry salty tears of pity about my skill at placing stats.
