No trophy for Dark Souls

I was disappointed that Dark Souls didn't get an award in any of the BAFTA categories but I can't say I'm surprised as it is a pretty niche game after all, but I can take some comfort from the fact that Modern Warfare (insert number of choice, they all look the same to me) didn't get a mention either. I'll apologise in advance to anyone who thinks that my last comment is 'out of order' but that's the way I feel about that game's many iterations.

I can't remember all the details but Portal2 was awarded Best Game and Battlefield 3 got Best Multiplayer. I've played neither so 'I couldn't possibly comment'.

I'm surprised the critics didn't award anything to dark souls to keep their pretentious reputation as a reviewer up while they keep giving out 9s and 10s to games as awful as COD..

I guess another game noone ever heard of got that award then?

Battlefield 3, despite the mockery it gets, is absolutely the best online multiplayer game I've played in years. Conquest mode is fantastic. Deserving winner I'd say. It's a very different kettle of fish to CoD, which I got bored of shortly after the excellent MW1.

I've not played Portal 2.

Is battlefield actually good Zechk? I've never played it, only COD (which like you i enjoyed MW1 but after thought it was getting milked like all series with potential).

I've heard portal is immense though from what my friends say, sadly i have not had the chance to play it

Battlefield 3 is absolutely excellent. I've not even touched the single player, but the multiplayer in conquest mode on PC is truly fantastic. People dislike it for the sake of it because they either think it's a) COD mk2 or b) it's a big popular AAA game with a huge marketing campaign so it's cool to hate it.

Those people are missing out bigtime.

It is indeed a very engrossing multiplayer experience, the combination of large scale combat and close quarter mixes keeps it fresh, and I love flying . I am looking for more gaming buddies, note my origin tag in my signature, my bf3 tag is identical.

@ OP: Sorry to go off-topic there. It is a shame that dark souls did not get any awards. Perhaps it is that it did not excel in any one category? It did well in many (single player and multiplayer sections for example) and all of it summed up together made it one of the best games of the year. But the awards, being broken down into sections, perhaps meant that games that focused almost exclusively on a single category stood a greater chance of winning the awards?

There are so many gaming magazines and websites that Dark Souls did indeed win some awards.

Good to see bf3 do well(i think i have about 2000 hours on bfbc, bfbc2 & bf3)
Sad to see darks souls get no love.

My cousin is hooked on BF3 and I have seen videos, I have played MW2 and call of duty but I gotta say BF3 is amazing although I am not a big shooter fan, but I would say it deserves the merit.

Dark Souls is although a success, not a mainstream game and that is good in a sense.

Battlefield 3 from what I've played is pretty great. Now, it definitely isn't a game I take seriously, but what game really is in all honesty? When I was in the Beta I would log in and just have some fun. At a friends I've finally gotten to see vehicle combat and I had a blast rigging Helicopters with explosives and ramming tanks, reminds me of BF2 and BF1942 haha.

I don't mean to go off topic but I'm curious, has BF3 improved any since it's release, and I assume you are on PCs? I rented a copy, and I was furious with how the console version was treated, and one of the major reasons I hate EA and DICE. Then again they decided to screw me out of my account after a few years on BF2142 due to them reusing an already active code I guess, I forget really what they did.

Also I suppose I should mention it's pretty much accepted everywhere, though I doubt anyone in the industry would admit it, that certain magazines and events are supported, I suppose is the right term, with lots of money by certain companies that want their product to get shown off more and make more money for them. So in effect those awards are basicly bought in my view and worthless, the only viewpoint worthy is your own, and I think Dark Souls is one of the best games I've played in along time.

Meh, I don't care if some panel of judges didn't deem Dark Souls worthy of any awards. It's my game of the gen (so far) and that's all I care about, nobody else's opinion!
