Okay, time for me to ask a maybe pretty noobish question, but how the heck do you get this thing to steal humanity? I've joined the Darkwraiths and tried the R2 on a few NPCs, but all that happens is they get hit, and it's hardly more damage than if I had just hit them with the R1. I know it's supposed to be possible to drain humanity with the R2, but it's just not working for me :|

Equip it in your weapon hand and use R2.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
you have to center your char in front of them i think... takes a little practise. press the right stick to see if you are facing them directly and then hit R2. If succesfull you should see a grabbing animation.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
Seems real lame if it can only be done from a very specific angle. Guess I'll just farm up some rats then lol

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
Really? I did not remember it to be so dificult to use, you know the grab animation does not work on some specifics NPCs like the undead merchant, try it on Petrus or griggs and it will work

One of my favourites is the fat Pig, all Smough's with the Boar Helm.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
That is very weird, I looked below and all I saw was the previous posts being people with armor ideas, I don't know what the hell happened. Ignore that then.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
sieglinde offers up 10 humanity with the dark hand, solaire gives 6 i think, basically human form none hollowish people can be drained (crestfallen anything= no drain)

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
It does not suck humanity from some NPCs. I don't know why actually.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
because said npc's are generally one step from being hollow and thus have no humanity to suck so it just does the damage of the basic attack.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
While being +1 in Darkwraiths, I stole 7 humanities from Patches (it took me 3 attacks), 2 from Petrus, and 3 from Griggs. Crestfallen Warrior does not give you any humanity and if you try it on him you will probably aggro him.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
^I'm pretty sure every NPC only has so much humanity, so leveling up in the covenant won't increase the number of humanity you'll get from them, it'll only reduce the number of times you have to suck them to get them all.
About landing the grab: yeah, it's pretty prone to missing. You do have to be almost directly in front of them, or directly behind their back, and you have to be very close. And it could just be me, but I find some armors make it harder to land the grab. I sometimes miss a few times in a row on people who are wearing Havel's, even if they're afk and just standing there. (If I invade someone who's afk, I like to humanity-suck them and crystal out!)
This I'm not 100% sure about, but I think you can only suck up to as much humanity as the host has in "liquid" form. I've sucked some people consecutively and got nothing after the first time, and others I've gotten more each time. Also, I'm pretty sure there were times when I got no extra humanity after killing someone who I had already sucked. Either they were all dry, or the suck cancels the victory bonus, I'm not sure (I could play around with it more to know for sure).

Only works in right hand. R2 just attacks in left.

R2 in left hand is a parry.

Re: A question about the Dark Hand
L2 parries.
R1: Attack
R2: Humanity-suck grab
L1: Block
L2: Parry
It's a very versatile piece of equipment.
Edit: lol, my bad, didn't realize there was a page 2 and someone beat me to the answer!
