However, in order to not be attacked by those npcs you need to be in forest hunter covenant. How does this dude know and can use bountiful sunlight without being attacked? I conclude he is the princess guard and those to covenants are connected somehow. Maybe the princess that many might think as gwenervere is actually alvina. That is far fetched but after all gwenervere is an illusion.

Notice none of those NPCs have blue auras. This extends to Shiva and his pal. It's not proof of allegiance one way or another but it does mean they're in the forest by other means than the cat ring (they walked in). I imagine that they're just comfortable with the cleric since those spells are literally a life saver. Maybe the cleric is a cat groupie instead of a cat bro

That would be pretty interesting. Gwyndolin just made Gwynevere's illusion like that because he wanted her amazing chest- I mean amazing personality to distract people from the true Princess, a small little cat who can speak.
