It was stated by the admin team a few months ago that spamming and holding meaningless conversations has no place in forum threads.There are plenty of social networks and the afore mentioned chatbox that would be more suitable for such content.
One line posts in series forming conversation with no real purpose would be considered spam.It has been revealed in the past that it makes certain members completely avoid this section of the forum.

There is actually a forum rule dictating spam shouldn't happen. In random off topic I let it slide for periods, but I would prefer people use this thread for what it was meant for- free form conversation.
Every other thread you can't go off topic, talk about things other than the convo at hand that turns the discussion into something else entirely. This thread allows that.
This thread isn't meant for spam, it's made for just.. chatting about anything.
