Beta Version of my Upcoming Catalog of Builds Empty Beta Version of my Upcoming Catalog of Builds

Post by SirArchmage Mon Jun 10, 2013 11:06 pm

A big part of the large catalog of builds that I will be making is the way that you will be able to find the build you want. You will go onto it, and be thinking "I want an intelligence build that can take a hit, buff a weapon, and be fast" so you will click on one of the spoilers that says what builds are in it. And as you keep clicking, it gets more specific, until you are down to just a few builds that are different varieties of what you may want to use. I want this to be easy to search through and not confusing, a way to find any type of build in a matter of seconds. So please, give me your feedback and criticize as you will. I wish for suggestions, changes of names, and I will reply to be able to explain my reasoning for anything that is confusing in this and change it if it is not clear enough. This shall be the prelude of what is to come, and as such, needs to come as close to perfection as possible. Also, with the way it is set up, the same build might be found in a few different places. Such as a tank build that uses defensive miracles could be found both in the faith section and tank section.

    Quality Builds:
    Faith Builds:
    Intelligence Builds, Mages:
    Dexterity Builds:
    Tank Builds:
    Glass Cannons:
    Leo Ring Builds:
    Duel Wielding builds:
    Builds below level 50:
    Specific Weapons:
    Cosplay Builds:
    Gimmicky or joke builds:
    Trolling or Greifing builds:

This looks great. Although, I'm curious to know your definition of aesthetic and practicality? Are aesthetic builds simply going to be builds using armor other than your traditional min-max?

Also, I don't think you need quite so many separate sub-categories for your "specific weapons" category, as there's only so many weapons requiring their own builds.

Other than that, all the power to you man!

Concerning aesthetics and practicality, it is like this. If I wear the wolf ring, it would probably be best to go the Mother mask, knight gauntlets, dingy robe, and hollow soldier waistcloth combo, as it would take up less equip weight. But instead I choose something that doesn't make me look stupid. It is making your build slightly worse so that you may look better, even if both versions are min-maxed.

And since some people may want a build based around one weapon, any weapon really, I feel the need to make builds for every weapon there is. Even if you want to use a crap weapon that isn't really good, hey, this may be the only place you'll find that build easily.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Nicely done! Personally though, I'd change the SL sub-categories a bit. I think something like this might work pretty well:
    1-55
    56-100
    101-130
    131+

Also, how are you ordering the builds? By SL or alphabetically? Or maybe something else?

Damn it, I forgot to add in the low leveled section. Thanks for the reminder. And I am debating on ordering it according to how effective it would be in battle or just random, as they are already ordered in sections.

Oh ok. So the builds don't have titles, just Mugen links right? If so, then yeah, just order it by how effective they might be.

Descriptions as well. They will have the link then a short description of it, as well as any notes that there should be about the build.

So much detail and effort. It really is worth it to see the whole thing through.

I think the Dingy robe HSWC looks good. I must be the only one though, since everyone else complains you can't look good while min maxed.

I wasnt sure what this was for originally, but Im loving this. Keep up the good work Sir Archmage! Here is what I currently am running, not sure how to classify other than END dump. Focuses on Obsidian Greatsword and hotswapping to a Chaos/Lightning Washing Pole if the need for speed should arise.

http://m.mugenmonkey.com/?c=291534782294184755- same build, but all black Joy
Im not the best PvPer by any means, and I'm not the type to be overconfident or braggadocious, but I think Ive won 95% of every PVP battle on this build, I LOVE it

Glass Cannon Mage (SL 83). http://mmdks.com/2p8d
Get cursed as well. Activate PW and you will only lose 6 HP while it is active. Of course, have the RTSR on as well. It doesn't get stronger than that for a Glass Cannon Mage. It can do 1,800 damage to Manus in one Crystal Soul Spear. The RTSR Composite Bow will do over 500 damage per arrow. Don't even get me started about the Avelyn . . .
