Forest Invaders

I know this has been beaten to death but felt like i needed to talk about this. I hosted pvp in the forest (fair fighting, not ganking or using estus, ect.)to give invaders a break from ganking. Nealy every forest invader would use elizabeth mushroom, spam dark bead, fight me 2 against one, divine blessings all that crap. It made me wonder, do forest invaders bring the ganking on themselves some of the time? I should also say that i dont hate them for this. It was just a thought now that instead of seeing it from a catbro point of view, i see it from an invadee's point of view

I invade/host the Forest to fight 2/3vs1 . It has been established for 1 1/2 Years that the Forest is a dirty fighting place

There are tons of other Places to fight 1vs1 but in the Forest there are no rules .
Shrooms and Blessings are bullsh!t though .

Yea, i know the forest was established as a cespool, but i never hosted pvp there before, just invaded. I dont know guess i thought it would be different if i sat on the other side of the fence

I find things are a lot less crazy at higher levels. My 227 gets a good amount of duels. Generally though the forest is not that

They do that because they want gankers. Ask any of the catbros around here, they love the way the forest is now and that's without honor. Getting rid of the gankers is the last thing they would probably want to do.

Also some of us in the forest, when we see one person, just see a ganker that's trying to summon his buddy. That's normally what I see most of the time, at least.

Most forest invaders are just bad players brought up to kill at any cost.
For me it usually takes an invasion beforehand before I will trust any lone host. Otherwise everything is fair game except mushrooms and divine blessings.

Speaking as a former catbro,the cheap tactics and ruthless attitude is a counter to what they recieve when they invade.The same goes for the hacked healing items.That isn't to say some people aren't douches though.I don't think many catbros want the gankers gone but we all want the hacking gankers gone.

I understand that some waqnt them so they can keep a steady flow of invasions(bad or good). As i said before this is the first time i've hosted in the forest and i understand the mentality of some catbros. I just hoped it would be different if i hosted and played fair. Its the ones that complain about gankers and then gank those playing fair. It just took me by suprise a little i hguess ^^

First rule of the forest for me is assume you're going to be ganked, lost count of the amount of times, the summon or red invader stood off only for them to bs me in the end. so i can't blame them.

It's kind of a shame really. The forest is really the only area you can get a decent 2 vs 2 where you can't hurt you're teammate and neither can they. I guess you can go to Dark Anor, but that place had a rep for ganking long before the forest did.

If the arena was implemented a little better, then I wouldn't care much. However, the wait time is....

If you want to fight without rules, well, you can get that through any random invasions throughout the game.

I always host with honor in the forest. I let my phantom and the catbro duel it out until another catbro engages. I wish people would think about the potential in the forest regarding 2 vs 2 a little more.

I hate 1 vs 1, had enough of that in Demon's Souls. I woulda really liked for the forest to be the 2 vs 2 place, but too many people talking about "loving the gank".

Animaaal, being creative helps. I hosted in the cat pit one night. Even catbros gave me the benefit of the doubt about fair duels

Ya, I can see that. I never had any problems with it actually. I had hosting down to a science.

1) Kill the sorcerer.

2) Summon a phantom.

3) Work my way to Alvina.

If at anytime a catbro comes along, backtrack, kill the aggro'd enemy (if applies). Then just regulate as a host ya know? I never gave chase. If a catbro would run to the Giant Mushies or the Giant Kitties, then fine. More 1 vs 1 for my phantom.

From my experience, catbros can tell who's ganking and who's not. If they can tell you're a decent host, they'll invade you all night and show you the same respect.

However, that was about 5-6 months ago, can't wait to see what happens when I get back there

I have to agree that some can tell who's ganking but i never have a phantom with me at anytime. I guess it can be chalked down to leaving myself open to get ganked but the catbros but i generally thought there would less of them that gank in that kind of situation.

I'd usually make it obvious that I wasn't ganking.

-I'd never flask my phantom unless the catbro healed.

-The smart catbros would engage the phantom, and then try to catch the host off guard...in those cases...I would back away as much as possible without fighting them, even if they landed a couple hits.

-A catbro would really get the hint if you black crystal'd your phantom for backstabbing a catbro while they were bowing. You also get a lot of friend requests that way too.

Catbro here, and I agree to this post. I'm not in the forest to have a honor duel of any kind, you should not expect one. When I see a lone host fihting an invader, its very likely that their phantom got killed and the hunter is injured from the 2v1, one of the best things in forest is when host loses his phantom and gets ganked in return, you can almost taste their panic. So I don't trust a lone host, if after few invasions they're still all alone I trust them to be a lone host, and so wasting my ganker hunting time, so I'll dispatch them as quickly as possible (not really, but I still don't fight all clean). My forest hunting toon is made to fight dirty against ganks, it handles 1v1's quite poorly.

The revenge thing that got mentioned I just dont get. If you fight in anger you'll get killed much more likely. Anyone getting angry in forest should try something else, its not going to improve your gaming or your enjoyment. Winning a 2v1 even against bad players can be tough, get comfotable losing and forest can be most fun you've ever had.

I hosted solo in forest too, once. Most Forest Hunters that invaded me were cowards that hid at the ents until back-up showed up, despite me being alone. Also a couple of afk farmers.

I regularly host in the forest, and I rarely see anybody who is not going for the kill instantly. I usually position myself next to Alvina's location, to give are clear visual for my invaders, that I am alone.
When they spot me, they either run away, awaiting backup, or shoot arrows or sorcery after me. Presumably for the same cause.
Run in, kill them, taunt them (Potentially bow to them if they have shown impressive battle prowess).

The forest covenants (Catbros, apparently) is there hoping for a host with company. They don't want to fight with honor, they want to fight with dirty tricks, as the game intended the forest hunters to do. They want the odds to be pitted against them, so that they can return the favor. I refuse to gank, however.
Though, I do like to mess with some hosts every now and then, by letting myself get summoned, pretend I will help the host, and then leave them hanging when they need me. Cruel, but this is Dark Souls after all. The forest in specific.

Yea, there was so much potential for the arena. It was a good idea, just not many people using it unfortunatley unless im missing something?

You didn't miss much Princess, the Team Battles were really fun when you could get a few in a Row and as i said earlier i never got a single Deathmatch so i can't say anything about those

Remember when we used to worry that regular Invasions would die because of the Arena ?
