    Check out the Rules:

    Rules:

    Yep... that's right: no buffs, no dark bead spam, lagged out pursuers or CSS, no magic whatsoever!  Our rules nerf everything anyone ever complains about!  Flipping, turtle-ing, roll-poking, spears, katanas, poise stacking, poise-stabbing, roll-stabbing... ALL backstabs are prohibited!!  There's nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.  

    Also, anything to do with Giant Dad is prohibited.  The armor setup is inverted (helm and no body armor) and family masks,  large weapons, shields, castings and two-handing weapons are all explicitly or inherently prohibited.  The only thing you could do is stack endurance.  Finally, you don't have to tell anyone you leveled up dexterity, but you better get it to 12 in a rapier only competition!

    So, if you claim to be any kind of duelists; unless you have a note from the doctor -- you have no excuse not to show up!

    The combat restrictions might be hard to enforce.  But other than that good luck to all the participants.  Rapiers are my favorite weapon, but I'm not a "duelist" per se so I can't compete.

    Back-steps are allowed and will be a vital tactic.  

    Lunar, you are more than welcome to participate.  The event is not restricted to duelists.  I am anything but a duelist myself. This thread is just is just to advertise to the duelists out there; let everyone know about our event.  It's just for fun, but it's also a great opportunity to role-play a true "honor duel".

    Sorry but me and honor don't mix.  Plus I'm not too eager to participate in a tournament where my victory isn't practically guaranteed.  I'm just at too much of a disadvantage without my normal tactics.

    umm.. a location suggestion, you know the wall walkway in the painted world where theres a ring of sacrifice on a corpse ( to the left of the phalanx enemies)? that long thin walk way would give the host a good view and provide plenty of back and forth space for the duelists.

    As a Rapier person, I see way too many flaws in this idea for it to be fun for me, so I'll pass, thank you.

    It's an event offering...nothing more and nothing less. The negativity is a bit bewildering tbh. Oh, well...it is what it is, I suppose.

    No one is accusing you of anything.

    I don't see how this is watered down, just allow rolling and two handing. Then we will be good.

    I can't see why not allowing magic is a bad thing, everyone will have to rely on mechanical skill and reflexes to win matches. If that is too much for you, then just don't participate

    I think you're right.  

    The duels will be on the bridge with the two hollows and the alluring skulls just above the iron boar in the Parish.  As I said, back-steps (and with them running attacks) are definitely allowed and will be a vital tactic.  The picture and this: Dark Souls Fencing both link to the event thread.  We will try to run it on all platforms, but we only have one person for PC currently.

    BTW... The event title is: "Dark Souls Fencing".  Fencing so, yes rolling is banned (of course)... but please read the OP -- there is a paragraph immediately following the rules in the OP that explains in more detail how rolling will be dealt with.

    1. This is the third thread promoting the same event. Two by Hugh and one by our admin, Fex. Not to mention the event being in the event calendar on the home page. I feel there's no further need to promote the event.

    2. Misleading thread name, which has nothing to do with the event itself. Doesn't share the name, date, nothing.

    3. The first sentence Hugh starts the thread with "Put up or shut up!" is unfit to the kind and friendly spirit of this forum and the events it always promoted. If I was new here, after reading the this first sentence, I would leave the thread and perhaps even the community, whilst thinking it's full of elitists. That is something I really hate to see here, because this community is anything, but elitist. There are lot of new people coming in since Dark Souls II was announced and Demon's Souls is available for free on PS+.

    4. The general tone of the first post feels very unwelcoming, perhaps slightly hostile, especially thanks to all the prohibition and not clearly explaining what is allowed and not. I am aware that it was mean in a fun way, however it is, what is.

    I'd appreciate if you people would kindly stop derailing every thread where you disagree with someone's choice of Rep distribution and even go so far as to start bashing the person. It's annonymous for a very good reason and up to our individual judgement to decide who to give Rep. The person giving Rep, does not have to justify his, or hers choice and you should accept the person's choice, instead of questioning it and calling out for the person. I believe that people should not be concerned about giving and receiving Rep, especially if they, themselves were not the ones that received the Rep in question.

    I can see why other people disagree with the event, some people are simply too used to their own tatics and a few rules here or there can make them a bit insecure, which its not a problem in my opinion, but I like to join as many unique events as possible!
