    Dark Souls Little Brother

Post by Yesuurd on Thu Mar 01, 2012 6:06 pm

I played demon souls alot in the past and then I put it away, I have a 12 year old brother to whom we gave a ps3 for last christmas. It's amazing how a young brain differs from an old brain, he wins every game so damn fast he is really smart and mature for his age, I have to tell him at times to enjoy the game and not only focus on killing the bosses and finishing the fastest, to also explore and enjoy the items etc...(also an excuse so that he spends more time with each game since it's expensive buying him games one after the other)

Anyways I gave him demon souls and he already beat the game like 7 times and is Uniter Of Worlds, not too shabby for the little one, he is enjoying alot of the co-op in demon souls and gaming is something that we share and bond over.I ordered dark souls for him and it arrived today so I will be introducing him and training
him this weekend when he comes visit, he is already psyched about it.

I will be introducing him to the forum too, will be fun...

In fact I am wondering if the small fry will kick my *** in pvp.

nah he'll still not be able to PvP, in all fairness demons isnt hard if you grind a good weapon out early on since there's no embers needed or anything.

look forward to seeing him on here though silly

Alrighty cornsarnit....since we're bringing age up I feel obligated as part of the 30+ crew to defend our honor. You young'uns think you're so hot....I bet you don't even know how to get to Oregon! Hint: Buy spare wagon parts and bullets. It turns out monochromatic animals (including bears) are easily killed by slow moving small squares. You think the poison marsh is bad, we were learning the horrors of a slow death back in the day with dysentery. And speaking of Oregon Trail.....when you died you could leave graves with messages for other players....sound familiar?

So while you hotshots run around with your iPods and interwebs just remember that we've been gearing up for this since the '80s.

But in all seriousness, that's pretty cool to have a Souls disciple. Just remember to leave one trick for when he's truly ready to become the master. More Kung Fu flick like that way.

And keep one to yourself so he can never beat you when you're serious, because we're all a little bit sith.

Yup. Mine had a go, declared herself a fan of Fitz (as I named the giant crow to takes you to Firelink and who isn't Snuggly despite what people think), died repeatedly to the hollows near the aquaduct and went 'I don't think I'm very good at this' and stopped. Never been able to convince her to go back.

I know that feeling. My little girl just turned two and so far likes swinging the controller around with Super Rub a Dub and watched intently once as I dueled some Silver Knights. Oh yeah.....my PSP is referred to as "game" and is good for button mashing and watching "little guys" (Madden)

I bought my older brother Demons Souls, he has beaten in 3 times, but before he started playing it, it was sitting on his shelf for a YEAR. He tried it and rage quit. He saw me on PSN playing Dark Souls like mad, and decided to pick it back up. Funny thing is after going to NG+++ he still can't tell me if he likes the game.

my little man drooled so much on my psp it stopped working, waiting to get the vita later this year, ans he's still in that biting phase so he destroyed two of my controllers already but he just started to learn how to hold the controller the right way, his hands are still too smal though.

I've gotten one of my friends into DkS, but sadly he's on Xbox so can't coop with him :|

owe another friend some money though, also just enough to buy him dark souls with so maybe I'll have a chance with him, managed to convince him to take the game instead of the money silly

It doesn't go away altogether with women either (or men for that matter) you just gotta find someone whose drama is compatible with yours. Getting back semi on topic...

I hope gaming is one of many things I can pass on to my little one. My mom used to let me skip school on occasion and we'd sit and play Nintendo all day. She was an original hardcore gamer, and a pioneer in challenge/speed runs. I may be exaggerating that a bit but she was able to take on the original Legend of Zelda in one sitting and not letting poor Link die once. And she could do the infinite lives turtle trick in Super Mario Bros. Once the Playstation era began her and my brothers would have to save carefully to make sure no one's file got overwritten. Before wikis there was mom, who could tell you where to get any materia you were looking for, or how to prepare for the Abyss in Filgaia....

Gonna get more sappy so now is the time to stop reading if you want....

She passed away in April, 2009 after being sick since the previous fall. During that time I was playing Crisis Core on PSP. I was prepared to hand the game to her with my PSP but her hands and eyes couldn't make a go of it. I made sure to give her a story play by play because to us...it was important.
