    As a person who now since completion plays solely for the Co-op aspect of the game I was wondering what other sunbros do when the host goes a bit awol. Not in the sense of the usual blind rush into mobs but when an invasion occurs and the host gets a sudden bought of red mist and goes looking (blindly) for the invader. Do you try and find the threat yourselves? Or do you try chasing after the host to stop any potential ambushes?

    Personally I try to find the Invader myself, but either way it's still a disadvantage. Cruddy hosts are cruddy hosts, often they deserve to die.

    I usually just stick with the host regardless. Save them if they get into ****, gank the invader if they try to rush the host. Aim to take the invader's attention as much as you can and avoid damage to the host.

    i always go after the invader, i hate it when the host chases the invader to where theres mobs, i can save the host from the invader but not from hi/her self.

    I go after the invader. If the host runs in blindly, then I'll try to clear out mobs, get in BSs, or even get in their way (if there is space to try and stop them). But, in Anor Londo, if we get invaded at the right spot, I'll make a run for it and unlock the main shortcut (so they don't have to go past the archers again). I do this when: we are very close, we are in a spot where the invader spawns far away, or when there is another coop phantom there.

    I follow the host, regardless. I'll try to jump in front of them if they're running into a hallway or something where the invader might be waiting at the end, but it's their world so I try to adapt.

    Thank you for the feedback guys. I'll try to take all your suggestions into account haha. And another question do you all like reim suggest open up shortcuts? I still play by the old DeS rules of not opening anymore of the world up for the invader to exploit.

    I'm interested in how people answer that one as well. I like to do it on the offhand chance it's a shortcut/item the host doesn't know about, but it feels presumptuous, somehow, so I'm never sure if I should.

    if the host is running away I try to place myself between them and the invader, likewise if they try to approach the invader I will stay close and lend a hand if I see the invader has an unfair advantage or the host is struggling

    Is there really anything a invader can exploit anymore? Rare monster drops are given to the host as soon as they fall, regardless of where they are now. That includes crystal lizards.

    In contrast Demon's souls really depended on the host to open the fog gates. So you couldnt really run a head an do a whole lot unless they had beaten most of the level, and in that case the invader already could reach most of your valuble crystal lizards and kill them off.

    To answer OP, I usually hang around, but then again I don't often get a gung-ho host who wants to run madly into invaders. If the invader starts to run to heal I go after him, and start throwing stuff. But otherwise I stick around the host like a well trained dog. haha.

    I meant in terms of mobs and potential ambushes, also if the host refuses to leave a room, I find it easier to have only one door to defend against, so I was just wondering in terms of that, but please continue the suggestions, I don't want to be doing something wrong here.

    I only do it for Anor Londo. That shortcut is unique, since you bypass one of the most annoying gauntlets in the game. I do whatever benefits the host the most. That's why I'm there. If dying is what's best, then I'll run right in. I'll take the lead for the Archers. I'll be a meat shield, when necessary. I will show good strategies for fights. I'll attack bad chests and open good ones. I won't charge through the level and kill everything for the host. That is no fun for them.

    I'll also try to read the host. Some of them want to speed run through the level and just get to the boss. Others have no idea what to do or where to go. I'll take them through the entire level, show all the items, shortcuts, etc.

    I open shortcuts. The invader's gonna come anyway and if there's 3 or even just 2 of you, you should be winning pretty much every time.

    I think I have enough feedback now, thank you everyone for the input, hopefully this will mean more hosts reach the boss fog gate intact, you can keep debating amongst yourselves if you want, but please stay on topic (not pvp tactics *cough*)
