CoD. The shooting one. Why the hate? Also, mainstream sell-out woes. Ac3, ME, etc.

Old school FPS'er here and i don't know what it is but personally i never liked the COD games they were grand at the start and i'm going back as far as COD 1(the one in Black and white and was played on a cave ceiling). Kinda liked it at the start then the battelfield series started and i never looked back. I'd be at lans and the guys would switch to COD and i just wouldn't bother. For me it just recieves too much hype, there's far far superior FPS's out there and its the FIFA|Tiger Woods of FPS's new game every year with very little change.

I don't hate CoD, I just got bored by them. I played them for a good 3-4 years and started with CoD 3 which in my opinion is still a very good game. I just always thought that they would add something new as content to it and they never did. I never got any new gameplay that other FPS games offered me.

I mean they're going into the future now right? That opens up so much creativity as to what you can add on next, and I played BO2 and there really wasn't anything new. I didn't care for the campaign even a little (I thought the characters were dull) and the multiplayer wasn't terrible but there just wasn't anything to keep me invested because I had already seen it before in the previous games.

I for one, like FPS but I dislike all, and I mean all, generic, war time shooters. Call of Duty gets most of my disdain because of its popularity.

In terms of DLC's as opposed to new titles, publishers regularly push studios to bring out new AAA titles, especially when it's around that time(holiday season). It doesn't matter if it's good or if it warrants a separate release, as long as it sells, and a new AAA title means $60 as opposed to $20 for a DLC, or even $40(they wouldn't dare) for a large DLC.

If you just take a look at FIFA games, they're all but they come out with new ones every year, every year they sell like tacos on Monday, and every year, a few months later, they're all back in the stores in the used aisles. Publishers simply don't care because there are enough(forgive me for using the term) idiots who'll gladly fork over that money because it's a new title in a popular series they happen to enjoy for a month or two.

I like playing them with friends every now and then, but they just don't hold my attention as long as an RPG. Where I'm from, CoD is basically the only game played, so I have to deal with it.

Give the battlefield series a go for a while, theres waaay more to it but once you get into it you'll never go back. If you can get it going on PC i highly advise that, nothing like 32v32.

It's very like souls in there's a 100 different plays to play it.

I enjoy Battlefield more as well, it held my attention a bit longer.

Same here X, where I'm from everyone's either a CoD, BF3 or FIFA player. Or worse, Guitar Hero/Rockband

Nothing against anyone's taste in games, but I'm deeply disappointed that no one plays quality games. I'm glad I know a few friends who play good ones though.

The multiplayer isn't something I find amusing because of Killstreaks. It rewards people for playing like cowards. So instead I play any of the CPU stuff and send it back.

The general hate is that the series has been the same sh!t since MW2 and still is the #1 sold game every year. I like the killstreaks and it's awesome when you earn them but the game promotes k/d ratio way too much, something that's not important in other games such as Battlefield and Dust514. Also the maps in this game are so small, people who complain about camping snipers have no idea wtf they're talking about.

I know what you mean wyrm. Camping Snipers in CoD have nothing on snipers Dust and BF3. I also don't mind the repetition because I find it loads of fun. I can see how it has the potential to be really bland, but it isn't bland to me.

My biggest, most absolute complaint about CoD is quickscopping. It looks sh*tty as hell, everyone has an orgasm when it is pulled off, and makes sniper rifles seriously retarded.

I think the simplest way to put it is that the community ruined the image of the game. It's a similar thing with League of Legends. A very fun and excellent game that can be played on a competitive level. It is also full of assholes that will throw games because you accidentally stole a kill, harass you for buying an item they think is 5% less effective than another, or report you because you picked a character they wanted.

Communities often get reputations based on the actions of community members.

Can't find the pic but there was a graph going around about COD deaths, it went something like "1% lag, 1% better player killed me, 98% f***in B******t". Pretty much sums up most if not all online gaming.

As for quick scoping, my mate(the guy who got his steam account locked for hacking) had physically drawn a crosshairs on his monitor purely for quick scoping. When he went away for a break during a lan, we drew about 20 more crosshairs on the monitor.

Me too, never did that while playing. My fav weapon was the AUG rifle in Black Ops. I played it with my friend every night man. That weapon was classy. He bought MW3 but I didn't, I bought Battlefield instead. I insisted that BF3 was a more deep game and everything from sounds to small details was too badass. When I saw BO2 I was very disappointed in they are still using same graphics from BO1. At least if the CoD from this year had way beautiful graphics I wouldn't care about same maps same gameplay.

I suppose if I were to explain why I personally dislike CoD, in short I consider it shlock. The amount of effort put into them is so low with a low quality output really irks me considering a good deal of people consider each new one "Game of the year." To me it would be like seeing Transformers 2 be considered the greatest film the year it came out. It was a commercial success and earned a lot of money world wide, absolutely awful film.

That's just my opinion, when I feel that with a map maker tool I could create more creative levels in a week makes me really question how much work these people even put into their games.

By the way I'm starting to hate Assassin's Creed as well. A game that releases every year without much improvements doesn't deserve my $60. I think everyone hates milking in general.

I will say though, I loved the first CoD. The campaign was pretty great and long lasting, presented challenges and level variations as well as exploration in ways.


Also Wyrm I've hated AC since AC2, though I don't think most people will like that view haha.

I'm just too literal, a game about playing an Italian Warrior called Assassin irks me far too much.

So is this thread just about milking money out of games?

I think that's the real reason people that actually think hate CoD and AC like Tolvo said. I can also agree with you Tolvo that AC has never really been that good of a game series to begin with, it had it's moments but it was more of an action game (and it always will be) rather than a stealth game.
