artorias you S.O.B

anyone else have trouble with the artorias boss fight had him down to 1 hit health a few times then one misttimed roll and i'm gone any tips .....also his armour is qaulity

My sister had some super trouble with him. She's playing a tank-like character, with vit and endurance, and then faith to have more heals. She's on her way to getting enough faith to get WotG and SLB. But she couldn't beat him medium rolling with fully upgraded brass set.

How did she beat him?

Iron Flesh. Works WONDERS against him. Get 20 flasks, good armor, and iron flesh, and whack away at him, my friend.

Also, I recommend Wolf Ring with that, as well. Get as much poise as you can.

Slap him twice with a decent poisebreak weapon when he tries to buff, its knocks him out of it. what are you carrying?

For tips I'd only say dont let him charge his "Dark form" and have a stamina regen buff like grass crest shield or the Cloranthy ring. also a fairly long range weapon like the Uchi's thrust atack was useful to me with the Leo ring as he atacks.

Speak softly and carry a big shield. You definitely wanna brush up on every defensive trick you know. I decided, since I'm so S M R T like that: to bring my primary character into the DLC. The guy in NG+++ or NG++++ (I don't remember but he's been around the block a few times). Yeah, Artorias was a huge pain. Learn what you can roll away from. Learn what to block. Try to have enough emergency stamina to block a sudden attack since he's so darn aggressive.

i'm a light armour fast rolling 0 poise uchi user with dmb just doesnt seem to work with this guy also not left my build with alot of wiggle room when it comes to wepons uchi+15 with dmb buff is pretty much as good as it gets

So... You're doing what you need to do. Dodging. Maybe try DWGR. Super nice roll animation. Makes you feel like a BA, too.

tried it but the damage output i have compared to the damage i take when mistime a role is shocking (i know dont mistime any rolls then haha) gonna try the leo ring and use the r2 uchi attack and wolf ring for some poise and i'll let you know how i get on

You could actually up the damage ante on him. Uchi is nice.....but per da character builder,

with 40 dex and 14 str.

your uchi's base AR would be 420

I used a Great Scythe (shocking I know) which does 474

Add some strength (I don't know your stats) and the difference increases. 20 Str. yields 482 on the Scythe.

The difference in weight is 0

So what I'm getting at is Artorias is one of the faster bosses. By trying to unload on him with many attacks you're gonna get hit so you've probably noticed you need to be careful with your fast build. So when you DO hit, every little bit helps. Also, the R2 of the Great Scythe can hit him just as easily as the quicker attacks of the Uchi. EDIT: Because you're still waiting for an opening. I would guess that only with a super fast weapon would you wanna try to snap off a few hits at a time (Priscilla's dagger comes to mind)

I don't know exact stats again, but poise isn't your issue with Artorias, it'll be stability. He doesn't hit fast enough to worry about stunlock like PvP but he does hit hard enough to break your guard on less stable shields. Based off your build a greatshield might be a problem but I can guarantee that medium rolling is sufficient, once you know his habits.

EDIT: I forgot to add that the Scythe won't be too likely to stop him from buffing. If you want to give that a go (making his hits way less deadly at the end of the fight, try the Gargoyle Tail ax. Same weight but better at interrupting things.

yeah just got smashed there but he was half health with 5 hits should make for a shorter fight

yeah i'm 45dex 18str all good advice sheild is 66stability i honestly think the problem is that i'm **** lol

He has a way to make you feel bad about yourself for a little while. You'll get him. I used his own shield against him......worked great.

Same thing happened to me before, only you replace "Artorias" with "Dark Souls"

You could always try power within or the red tearstone ring. It is possible to kill him in a few hits by using those. He is also resistant to magic so using DMB will yield less damage than SLB.

fast roll or ninja cartwheel and two hand the biggest, meanest weapon you have. don't bother trying to block or tank Artorias, he don't stand for that ****.

he is a machine lol i've got him sussed though a few more tries and he's gone fingers crossed ....skare thanks for the encouragement man good to know a pro had a bit of hassle with this beast aswell

he is done boys thank god biggest celebration ever shouting at his evapourating corpse in front of my girlfriend who had just arrived who's reaction went a little like she just doesnt understand lol

Dodge. Like a boss. Also, if you play on PC, get the mod that rids his armor of corruption, it looks beautiful.

with a fast roll character i have never had problems with him 1v1. with a summon is a different story, he glitches like crazy. doing sideways flip attack, skipping across the entire arena in a stab attack, its ludacris. though most of this is because this boss is so agro crazy that he is constantly switching targets, even in the middle of attacks.

ive only fought him once with a mid roll character and it only took me a couple tries.

i poised / fatrolled him once with a day 1 character i made when i didnt know anything about the game, but i wouldnt try it again.

best advice i have for anyone is use a non elemental weapon and stay just out of range of his sword at all times, this not only goats him into doing attacks that leave him open, but it gives you time to dodge. even with a poise build its still smart to stay at what i call "medium" range. best i can compare this with is a little closer than you can get agains the Hydras.
