    So this is something that I have been wondering for a long time, and I never really wanted to post it, but after seeing the Wolf Ring VS Havel's Ring thread, I decided to give it a shot.

    I don't PvP much in Dark Souls, and when I do, it is usually a cosplay build (My favorites being Havel or a Silver/Black Knight) though I still like to have a chance while PvPing. My best friend usually helps me with my builds since I rather new to the whole Min/Maxing that PvP entails. Each build he creates has Ring of Favor and Protection (FaP).

    I can't help but feel like FaP is a crutch item. Once you use it, you begin to rely on it, but at the cost of losing the ability to mix rings for interesting effects (my favorites being Wolf + Hornet for my Rapier build or Ring of Fog and Hornet for my assassin, any even Havel's and Cloranthy for my heavy builds).

    So what this all boils down to is this: is FaP worth it, or is it better to use 2 different rings for added effects? Build types nonwithstanding.

    What are your favorite Ring combonations?

    Fap is a crutch item, but one that is too good to pass up.

    40 vit + 40 end w/out FaP = 30 vit + 30 end w/ FaP. I noticed that on the character planner. That ring could save you about 20 points.

    Also, my favorite ring combos are Havel and Wolf, and FaP and Wolf. I'm also using Bellowing and Lingering on my Mage.

    If possible, fap goes on every build. (some builds/build types can't use it) Mostly to save points on vit.

    It was always one of the best items in game though. DWGR+FaP and DWGR+hornets were the combo's like 80% of the players used.

    FaP is a godsend for low level toons where vit and end take a backseat, and it improves your advantage by that much in higher levels. Essentially, its usefulness for me is a parabola when plotted on a graph.

    Its not a crutch anymore than armor is though. I could do without it, but my builds effectiveness would suffer.

    It's just a really good point saver especially if your into cosplaying. This ring is just amazzing, but it is way to op. IMO the game would be alot better if we didnt have this ring. There would be more variety in your duels seeing less fast rollers and more creative builds. but you maay aswell enjoy it while you can, i doubt they will put a ring like this in dark souls 2

    20% more HP
    20% more Stamina
    20% more Equip Burden

    I have it on every of my builds. It's too good to pass up.
    Even if the extra HP got removed, I'd still use it. It can save a lot of points from End and Vit.

    No, you'd see the same number of fast rollers and more weapons under 5 units. People said the same thing about the DWGR nerf and time has proven them wrong.

    FaP is just undeniably the best ring for straight-forward melee builds. Extra health, extra stamina, and extra weight just can't be beat.

    Most or all other useful rings are only useful to specialized builds(i.e Wolf ring > Low poise quick rollers, hornet ring> backstabbers, etc.) but FaP just goes with EVERY build.

    Well put, and I agree that everyone FaPs. I mean my current main build (DEX/FTH Weapon Buff Build) uses FaP, since it gives me that extra stamina to keep swinging, but I just feel like that I could be using something like the Ring of Sun's Firstborn to buff up my Lightning Spears and Great Lightning Spears since I rely on them a bit more than I like to admit.

    Thus far it seems like general opinion is that the FaP is a staple...

    It's the stamina that is to be blamed.
    if FaP gave 30% life and 30% extra weight, it would see less use then with that 20% stamina...

    Honestly, it's not the ring that is the problem, it's the current implementation of Stamina. That's the same reason that Green Blossoms are so overused.

    I tend towards wolf and rts or wolf and cloranthy. It is totally situational though. I like the option of 2 ring slots and the fap tends to cramp my style. That being said for my recent sl55 dragon it was wolf and fap or fap and cloranthy.

    Agreed. When I am doing solo runs for items or quick boss kills I typically am outfitted with Grass Crest Shield, Mask of the Mother, Cloranthy Ring, low equip load, and a green blossom = Stamina monster.

    FaP on every PvP build. It saves stats that can be used to make my weapon more powerful.

    Yea your going to want RoFaP on most builds, but there are a exceptions.

    RoFaP has been the main ring used on every build since the release.

    There are builds that justify using something else....but I dont know of them...I'm just saying anything is possible. silly

    id pass it up if they made light roll a bit more attainable. pretty much any "light armor" can't be worn with anything short of 40 end if I want to light roll there's something wrong there. im using the lord blade ciaran set for the ultra high bleed/poison resist and because its really light, yet I can't light roll if I use the tracers and a light shield with it if I don't use ring of FaP

    honestly the entire pvp scene promotes you to fat roll in havels to tank through the enemies hit and smash him in the face with a lightning zweihander.
