Rant about weapons

I meet people who have their favourite weapon and make whole builds around said weapon and while I also like to have a favourite weapon, I can't find one in DkS.

When I started seriously PvPing in Demon's Souls, I've immediately fell in love with Blueblood Sword and Dragon Bone Smasher. I loved their design, the moveset and they did great damage. But ever since I started to seriously PvP in Dark Souls, I couldn't find even one weapon like these.

There are many very good weapons, but I can't find even one like these two. It's the combination of moveset, design and damage that I seek, yet cannot seem to find.

My Favorite weapons? Where do I begin.

-->Dragonslayer Greatspear: I love two-handed weapons, and this weapon was close to my heart from the first time Ornstein buried it in my chest cavity... (See what I did there?)

I love the look of it, and the fact it is an insanly easy boss weapon to obtain. If you meet the 1-hand requirements it becomes a moderate range weapon, but since I love 2-handers, I usually ignore the 1-hand moveset (except for the -50 DUR for a lightning bolt, can be useful)

--> Great Scythe: 2-handed weapon, and the 2-handed moveset is perfect for dead angles and fun tiemz...nuff said

--> Estoc (Any Rapier really): I love these in real life, and that passion has carried over, when I typically use them, I use two, one for parrying and the other for the obvious riposte.

I found the Large Sword of Moonlight great for me on Demon's Souls. But, about the Murakumo, it's quite hard to get used to it's range and attack speed, and is literally useless with 0 poise, but when you do get used to it, as you said, it is truly a powerful thing. An easy weapon to adjust to is the Longsword. And the Butcher Knife is loved by me too.

Edit: I found my love in these weapons doing a quality build. Decided to randomly test them out, and I have never regretted it. I have been using these 2 weapons ever since.

Go for the looks, then master the weapon.

it all depends on the character. ive never been a big fan of what i call the middle class weapons. your basic swords / axes. i share your sentiment of not finding one i like all around. i always seem to go with fast weapons like rapiers and spears, or really slow weapons like greatswords and whatnot. i cant find a good middleground weapon. looks wise i really like the Darksword and the Barbed Straight Sword, though they are both lacking compared to other blades of the same catagory. darksword seems a little weak and heavy for its class and the BSS seems really short to me, plus i never really used bleed weapons.

as for specific weapons i always seem to find myself going with Velkas rapier or the Estoc if im not going to have a character w/ the correct stats, Demon's Spear, and either GLGS, MLGS, or Obsidian GS, depening on the stats/look im going for.

on a second note i really like the look of the Server and the Flamberge, though ive never used either.

The Server can become a very impressive weapon, if you scale with it right. You should try it.

I have a few favs. I am in love with the partizan, shotel, and the stone greataxe. for demons souls i love the phos pole and rune sword. Oh ya and the lonsword has got to be in there because it looks so sexy when u wear it with the crestfallen warriors stuff. cosplay ftw

It took me a while to get past that stage, but I eventually did. Since I don't pack a shield or much poise I am allowed to carry two weapons at all times while maintaining fast roll. Why not try to find two weapons you enjoy and stick with them? Mìxìng thìngs up mìd-fìght really spìces thìngs up. Why not pick your favorite type of weapon regardless of how popular it may be? If you're having fun with it I see no problem. Even if you don't like one part of its move set it still has a nice portion you do like, correct? And I understand if you like diversity, but if you're going for practicality and you still win with the Chaos Blade for example it still is an awesome weapon even without R2's.

When I started this game I knew there were scythes and katana - my two favorite types of weapons of all time. Are they popular? Yes. Do I care? No - I just try my best to prove that I am better with these weapons than the next person.

Let me get this straight. You don't want to use the Balder Side Sword, Moonlight Greatsword, or Claymore because they are overused. Also your favorite Demon's Souls PvP weapons are Blueblood Sword and Dragonbone Smasher.

Did I get that right?

Personally I really like the Dragonslayer Greatbow and Zweihander.

Silver Knight Straight Sword. The moveset's not terrible, it's very useful, and those r2's hit harder than other straight swords. Also, SKS is not a situational weapon, you can use it against every enemy and area in the game, the only problem is that it's OP in PvP.

My favorite weapons are changing a lot. It first was Kats (uchi), then Zwei, then Claymore, then Great Club, then the rapier, then the Mura, now back to Estoc/rapier and shotel, with a little falchion thrown in for good measure.

I don't think Dark Souls is made for dual wielding. I've tried several combinations and so far, I like only one weapon in offhand and that's PGS. It has good parry timing, helps build up bleed, is a great way to annoy bs fishers.
I'll try dual wielding for a bit, maybe I'll find out that my problem isn't with my weapon, but with my shield. happy

I'm from EU, not that it matters, but lot of DeS veterans that I know are from NA and while everybody used Second Chance and Cursed/Light Wepon here as well, I never met many Blueblood Sword users. Yes, DBS was all the rage, but, unlike DkS, in DeS, I felt that there's not much to choose from. I know there was a lot of good weapons there, but most of them seemed bad for PvP to me. That was just my inexperience speaking, now I know you can kill someone even with your bare hands if you're good enough. big grin

SKSS lacks that Longsword R2 poke for me to like it. I know I can do a poke with 2H roll R1, but that's just not the same thing.

I like to switch weapons as well, not only because of the topic, but also because of variety and fun. I like to cosplay, so I might just throw in some ridiculous setups just for fun.

Know the feeling. I used a greataxe in demons, and there's nothing quite as awesome in dark, its moves got split into the ultra great swords and great hammers. (the current great axes inherited none of the awesomness of their hyper armored predecessors)

I make do with a dgm/large club combo most of the time. (menu swap them usually) If I really want to win I use a spear/kat dex/faith setup.

I wasn't suggesting dual wielding, just carrying two weapons or menu swapping during the fight if needed. Do you get bored of weapons or do you really not enjoy most of them?

I LOVE the darksword. As soon as I saw it in a darkwraiths hand: "I HAVE TO HAVE THAT DAMNED THING." Too bad it doesn't combo like it does in the darkwraiths' hands. However, I've landed many wake-ups with it's r2s.

One of my favorites is the bow. Doesn't really matter which one, because I don't actually use them. I'll just 2H it when nothing's going on and tap left trigger and right trigger one after another to shake my character's chest back and forth. It's one of the most amusing things for me to do in the game while waiting, aside from rolling on dead bodies and trying to fling them off cliffs.

Both.
I find most weapons boring. Either they look silly, or have strange movesets.

All weapons are viable in PvP. I have been thought this lesson by one invader, who completely defeated me with no HP loss using only Dagger and he didn't even use a crit once. This person is to this day my most skilled opponent.

I have some weapons that I like.
Chaos Blade, Iaito, Shotel (it's R2 attacks mostly), Rapier, SKS, SKSS, BKGS and more, but all of them start to bore after some time. It doesn't matter if I win, or lose, both options are bad for me. If I win too much I feel that my weapon is OP, if I lose too much, I feel my weapon sucks. In the end it's more about me then my weapon. big grin

I approached the colleseum and was met with a mighty door of pure white light! I cautiously approached, then proceeded through the door. When there, I saw her. The most beautiful thing I had ever seen in all my lifetimes! But she was in the arms of another man, she longed to be rid of him, looked at me, pierced my very soul! And I knew what I must do. I slew the man. He was a worthy adversary to be sure, but I conquered, then took her for my own. We travel together now, seeing the sites. You wouldn't believe the wonder's we've seen. Together, Forever. Isn't that right dear?
