Favorite Shields

So what is your favorite shield? Are you more defensive or offensive? Do you even need one?

As a more offensive player who doesn't block that much I personally love the small leather shield, weighs 0.5, has the fast parry and the same stability as the bucklers with almost no requirement to wield, pretty much on all of my builds now.

The fire effigy shield is really good too, once it's maxed out it ends up with 90 physical, 90 lightning and 84 fire resist which is pretty amazing for a light shield, though the faith requirement can be a hindrance.

Silver Knight Shield has to be my favorite if not for the 5 point weight, it has some pretty balanced out defenses and the best stability of medium shields.

I've used the parrying dagger for a while and now I'm using the target shield for the first time since I'm used to the parry frames. It's a pretty fun pvp shield since you can be more forgiving with your timing.

The dragon crest shield is probably my favorite. My main toon is a dragon eye invader so I like to keep the dragon theme going.

Grass Crest. Never leave home without it.

Iv always loved the heater shield ever since i got wrecked by the crestfallen warrior. It's got the 100% physical reduction and the blue matches all of the crestfallen warriors gear. The dark hand is also really cool, it makes me feel like a wizard. gonna throw stone great shield in as my fav big shield.

I don't use shields anymore, that way I can maximize my casting power.

I normally use the crest shield in PVP, however I'm trying to get used to the fast parry on the buckler might just move to the small leather shield now that I think about it.

The only shield I've used is the Dark Hand when I first started to PvP, but I don't use one anymore.

My favorite shield is my weapon when two-handed.

I've recently discovered the greatness of the heater sheild. 56 stability from start and it's light as a feather, 100% Phys reduction and not too shabby in the other stats.

In most scenarios i would say the silver knight shield is my favorite. When Im invading I always try to bring the Crest shield because it helps deal with mages and clerics. The 95% resistance to fire on the Black knight shield paired with its high stability makes it excellent for fighting strength/pyro builds. The bloodshield is the best for fighting opponents with bleed weapons while still having good fire resistance. The buff given by the GCS is fantastic for my dex characters.

Ultimately like I said it depends on the situation but other than the shields listed here i pretty much don't bother with any other shields.

For PvP, it depends on the weight. Heater is usually the best all around shield for its weight. Crest is my next favorite. If I'm using a heavy weapon, then Grass Crest is the way to go.

Great if you have some faith. It also kinda looks like you smacked Manus in the face with it.

An elemental with Strong Magic Shield is op against everyone but vets.

1. Heater Shield: 100% physical defense and low weight.

2. Grass Crest: Normal parry speed is a little slow for my taste but the stamina regen bonus is nice.

3. Dark Hand: I use this when I need to drop weight. Effective but I like having the ability to setup parry.

dark hand imo, 80phys is not that bad and 80/80/80 for elemental is fantastic. the main drawback is the stability but you can still block all weapons @ 40end (at least 1 hit ^^). i have it on almost all my guys, runner up being heather and crest.

Spider shield, but that is just because I like the way it looks. It is really not a bad shield and handles poison arrows better than the average shield.

Target Shield. I can land some sweet ripostes with this little destroyer in my hand.

Use various shields for certain situations, but my faves to use (and make builds around!) have to be Target, Effigy, and the overall efficiency of the Silver Knight. Just starting really using the Parrying Dagger though for my Pardoner character, and despite mostly getting my *** handed to me in PvP (well, invaders in Sen's mostly as a white), its still pretty fun when I do actually land a devastating parry.

Shields are for casuls.

stat wise i have to say Heater Shield, but damn that thing is UGLY.

if im going for looks i have to say Blood Shield.

i dont use heavy or light shields though as im getting better w/ my parry times with lag (miniscuely) ive been thinking about going with a light shield, but then i gotta learn timing all over again so we will just have to wait and see.

Grass Crest is probably my most used, not neccesarily my favorite.

My favorite has to be the Heater Shield, it may not look amazing, but it performs admirably in almost every respect.

dark hand sees use on all my builds at one time or another

i also use the target shield frequently, no particular reason, i just like it

i use the blood shield on my dragon build for extra resistances

the grass crest for those builds that use 2H weapons … swing batter batter!

Let it be said here and now I am a huge sucker for Havel's gear: his shield being no exception.

Other than that my favorite shield is the cutting edge of my washing pole and the vicious offense I bring to the fight. To use a shield is to admit weakness.

Effigy shield, sucks that you need faith to use it if not I would use it in all my builds.

Now I get why everyone likes the other shields in this game. I honestly feel that after you're done with those, you will begin to realize all you need is the small leather. Idk, do what you want but realize riposte deals the highest amount of melee dmg, so becoming comfortable with parries is important. This shield was made for parrying. Beats Target and Buckler in speed of parry, recovery time, and weight.
