Pure strength build needing advice on playstyle.

So earlier I posted the beginnings of a build I was dying to try out. Back then it was a distant possibility, but now it's 3 quarters of the way there and already bearing fruit. The finished product is this

(note, the Dragon King Great Axe is not the only weapon I'm using, but it is the heaviest. It's only there to justify my endurance and for the occasional fight.)
The weapons I plan on using are the Man-serpent Greatsword, Demon's Great Machete and axe, large club, and the dragon king's great axe.

What I'm looking for is any advice you can give on strength build use. Whether it be for a particular weapon, or a build like this in general is up to you, but anything and everything is appreciated. I'll be back in FC soon with this toon in hand, and can't wait to try him out.

Don't try using the great axes or great hammers in the Burg because you'll get roll backstabbed to death.

Yeah yesterday I came up against sooo many BS fishers it was unreal. This one chick (i think she was a girl) I 'vaded 4 times over the space of like 2 hours. How can you have fun fishing for that long o.O

Welcome to the forum, okay - what playstyle - personally I play defensively with UGS and dead angle - it allows for you to stunlock the aggressive people. With Greatswords fight aggressively - use the sprint attack to dead angle whilst unlocked - 1h r1 works for dead angles also and then there is 2h r2 for the dead angles which is great. Large club the roll attacks are prime attacks and then you use the 1h r2 effectively also to dead angle sometimes. DGA - I prefer the greataxe personally due to its moveset however the principle is the same, you roll attack to dead angle enemies - the r1 2handed can easily stunlock if you predict them, the 2h r2 for the greataxe is fantastic! DGA you wanna just make use of roll attacks and r1 attacks.

so true. im gonna try to be helpful here since i think my head is about to explode. DGA and GA are pretty awesome, DGA's r1 has really good range for what it is and a lil is always good the rolling attack is also really good for dead angling and bothe the DGA and GA have which is awesome but do not do it too close or you will get parried. now the MSGS, try to 2h it and start with reg r1 then follow it with the r2 to dead angle(they wont parry you since they will miss the parrry but try to lock off right before you do the r2 and aim to their side) and try to mix the rolling attack with the reg r1 and r2 so you wont get parried that easily, also the rolling spinning attack is awesome for dead angling when locked off. the DGM is my favourite weapon in the game, it was the first weapon i started using for pvp and i discovered it on the first week the game came out and used my first slab on it(i used the bkugs for the first week) try to lock off to dead angle, even if youre in fron of them and hit them you attack wilol go right through their shield which is kinda weird, you can dead angle just fine when locked on which is what i do most of the time, also try to bait parries by just doing a regular r1 far enough for your opponent not to bs you so as soon as youre done with your attack parry if theyre coming to you wich will most likely be a running attack and you will parry it(this works specially good with kats and weapons that have a thrust attack except spears since those things can hit you from 100 yards away). the great clubs are really hard to not get bs'd with, the ground pound is really good against bs fishers, the only thing you need to do is lock off right before the pound and aim it behind you so instead of a bs they'll get a club to the face, also the rolling attacks are pretty awesome specially the GC'S one since it has rediculous reach. the only thing i can isay about the burg is try to keep you back to the wall as much as you can and you wont get bs'd but they will pull out everything they got though so be careful with all that pyro, i always have a chaos storm ready so i just get back and most of the times they cant get away from it.

Be patient. The weapons are slow, so if you attack be prepared for the counter. Baiting with empty swings is especially useful for judging the opponents reaction.

Lol, like forum said you have to be patient specially in the burg, try to stay as far away from your opponent as you can, I find that using a spear in your off hand helps a lot with keeping peolple back, I use a pike since I only have 10 dex and it works pretty good.

Use a light xbow in your offhand. You can punish things quickly and actually lure parries - I have been using my new strength build in the burg last night and I went on a 40 winstreak in the burg. It is great fun using the DGM and the pickaxe, the thing about the pickaxe is that it's unpredictable, you can do an r2 and it tends to catch the people doing their dashing attacks with a counter for 500-600 damage so almost as must as a DGM swing.

Does the Leo apply to the pickaxe? I know virtually nothing about that weapon. I figure it's about time I started using weapons that no one even bothers with. Pickaxe in mainhand and Dragon Bone fist in the offhand sounds pretty boss, especially since the DBF can parry.

I love the pickaxe - I don't think leo ring applies, it is funny when you are close to death throwing on RTSr and shooting a bolt in their face for critical damage whilst they dash attack and killing them or if not stunning them ready for teh second bolt xD

pickaxe does work with leo ring, i tested it with mo and it worked.
